Religion had the most influence on the ancient civilization of mesopotamia because they believed that if the gods were happy with them they would receive good fortune. Because of this many praised the gods through sacrificed temples and their kings. They believed in doing so they were connecting the gods and earth and bringing good will for their crops and luck.

All this evidence proves that religion is the most influential factor in ancient mesopotamia because they believed the gods controlled their fortune and will. By showing how much they praised the gods and the people that connected earth to the gods. And how they dedicated their life to pleasing the gods with sacrifices and love.

As we can see in the images Kings are at the top of the social structure followed by Priests. This is because of the importance of religion in Mesopotamia. They believed that the gods needed to stay happy or else they would not bless their civilization. The citizens highly praised the gods but also the kings because they connected them to the gods. Along with the priests for the same reasons.

This proves that the mesopotamians believed that praising the gods to make them happy would give them good fortune and luck for their communities. This has an influence on mesopotamia because thinking this caused many to pray to the same gods.

Some would argue that religion is not the most important because it does not have to do with survival, however the epic of Gilgamesh shows that mesopotamians believed the gods blessed them and helped convince them to help the civilization. ¨Shamash, the god of justice, raised against Humbaba the great storm winds¨.
