The image shows the witch trial that had happened in Salem Massachusetts where if you were found guilty you can be put to jail, hanged, and even burned alive. In this image you can see a young girl objecting while the people in the Crowd is criticizing her. Also you can see another young girl on the floor Cleary showing signs of witch possession which is causing people to flip the Crowd. During this time people had fear over witch craft. This town only had very strong believers that were part of the religion called puritanism and with the start of couple of young girls acting in super natural way, the fear pf witch craft started causing many people to die in court by misjudgment. As you can see in the image provided the girls are getting judged to see if they are a witch themselves.

In the image you can see that two girls are being blamed for being a witch. To break this down I will explain how it all started. It all started when two young girls that lived with Reveren Parris started to act unnaturally. They called in the doctor but he explained that it is uncurable and probably the "devils act". Through this they had an idea where the house servant Tituba was teaching them these magic and causing them to be possesd. The trials began after these young girls that claimed to be possesd come forward and choose women falsely and accuse them for being a witch. Later on this all became a blame game.

paranormal activities

The reason why the situation was weird was that it was believable to the people back then because when they were in the trials, these girls would face paranormal activates. In the trial of one of the girls say that they feel like someone is scratching them all of the girls can feel it as well. The people would check their bodies and actual scratch marks would show. Another common one was that if one of them said that they were cold the rest of them would say the same thing. So when they touched all the girls they were all cold. Through this it was made believable that they weren't lying. But then again after all that happend they lived a normal life so it's quite unknown what really happend.

crucible

About the author: He was a writer for screen, books, and plays. He wrote about many things and crucible being one of them. Back then this play wasn't as famous but now it is well known amongst people. He wrote the crucible because he was inspired to write a drama that reflected the mass cultural and political hysteria that was being made when the U.S. government was wanting to suppress communism activity in America to show that the same thing was going on. His message in this play was that ones reputation can end up hurting someone. With this play many people boycotted as they didn't have the same opinion as him but today this is one of the greatest plays.

Calvinism is what the purities believed was true during that time. Calvinism is where there is selected amount of people that were already chosen by God to go to heaven so knowing that people would act nice on purpose as no one knows who the chosen one is. The people would have to fake it till they make it. Basically its a reformed Christian belif that God doesn't love anyone but some which are the chosen people. The puritans had moved to different lands wanting to follow the practice of Calvinism. This led to many moving to Salem Massachusetts where the witch craft rumor had begun.
