Construction took place from 541-547 and was originally called the Khai Quoc.

This famous building is more than 1500 years old.

 Was relocated to the West Lake due to rising river waters. 

Very important building to the Vietnamese and people are expected to follow the dress code when entering.

Considered the oldest Pagoda in Hanoi Capital
The Pagoda was renamed multiple times, with its first name Khai Quoc meaning to build the country, then the Ao Quoc pagoda which meant to keep peace in the country, and finally the Tran Quoc pagoda which means to guard the country. 



In the Pagoda their is the famous Bodhi tree which is the original tree in which Budha sat to gain enlightenment. 

Was made as a place for former kings to live when they stepped down from royalty by the Lord of Trinh. 

 King Le Chieu ordered it to be burnt, but the soldiers did not destroy the main temple, only the rooms on rafts that the maids lived in.
