  • kansas doesn't have mountains but that doesn't make kansas flat.
  • The environment includes rivers,hills,soil, and rocks. 
  • The Southeast corner has 700 feet above sea level.
  • Ks was covered with shallow ocean of salt water called the Perian Sea.
  • the ocean left behind natural resources.

  • Ks has always been a crossroads, people go to,from, and through the state.
  • Plains indians seasonally leave their homes to hunt for buffalo.
  • Settlers would pass through ks before KS was even open for settlement.
  • Pony Express once traveled through KS carrying mail on horseback from Missouri to Cali.
  • Goods and services were moved in and out of our state. 
  • The wheat grown in Western KS and the airlines built in Wichita are exported all over the world. In return, many types of goods are brought into the state.

  • The temp. changes with the seasons.
  • the highest temp. in Ks is 121.
  • the weather can change so quickly it will cause tornadoes
  • there are serene sunsets,sleet, and snow.

  • there are loads of animals in Ks.
  • kansas plants must grow and prosper in extreme temp. and with uncertain precipitation. 
  • It does help that the state has some of the best soils in the world
  • less than 4% of kansas is covered in forests. 
  • The native buffalo almost stopped roaming because so many has been hunted for their meat and hides.
  • When humans arrived there were tough times for the animals and prairies ahead.
