Physical, mental, and emotional changes are important factors of Developmental Psychology. For example, one child who has been left to fend for itself for an extended period of time might develop a sense of independence and may grow older and become distant in relationships with other humans, while another child, who has experienced the same amount of isolation, could develop a strong need for attention and affection later on in his/her life.

Context is mentioned in the video through the example of a child being introduced to alcohol at a young age. A child who has being introduced to a mind-altering substance while the brain is still developing can have drastic effects on the life of the child. The video presents an interesting example regarding continuities in the development of humans. The resting state networks in babies are developed to adult levels by the time the babies are born. This shows that babies are capable of daydreaming and introspection. The acts of daydreaming and introspection continue from childhood to adulthood. Intellectual changes are another example presented in the video. A child that is five months old that is left alone may believe that its caregiver ceases to exist when not viewed directly. This is because children do not develop an understanding of object permanence until later stages of development. Moral thinking is also mentioned in the video and is an important part of development. An unruly child may lash out at others unprovoked. This behavior could continue until the child is reprimanded for its behavior. Whether or not the changes grant the child the ability to demonstrate compassion depends on the environmental and genetic factors. The combination of these two factors and the various ways different children can react to the consequences of their actions is an examples of the multi-dimensional nature of human development.
