I found the following quote important in aligning myself and encouraging myself to be the best mentor possible. I will try to be positive, encouraging and approachable with Linda and her journey to come, while also reminding myself (the mentor) of my own personal experiences in an attempt to engage the emotions and thoughts associated with understanding what it's like to be in someone else's shoes;<br><br>"Teaching is an affective process as well as a cognitive one. It is essential therefore that one conveys positive attitudes not only towards one's subject but also towards pupils" (Robertson 1997:70)</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>After meeting my Move Mentee, Linda, I have envisioned the Made 2 Move programme that I have developed for her as a Journey. We have started at point A and we want to arrive at B by week 10. My goal is to <strong>1) increase her physical activity </strong>and<strong> 2) ultimately help her to start to rediscover her own motivation and goals. </strong>I hope to do this by altering her mindset around physical activity and helping her to rediscover her love and passion for health and wellness.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><em>"Adults aged 18–64 should do at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity throughout the week or do at least 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic physical activity throughout the week"</em> <em>(WHO, 2011).</em> Given these recommendations, I have incorporated several weekly physical activity sessions within Linda's programme. As she comes from a sporting background and showed interest in physical activity outside of walking, I made the decision to advance her to running from week 2, gradually building her endurance.</div>]]></description>

Design thinking is something that we have been encouraged to use in becoming mentors and implementing our physical activity programmes. As a result, there is a strong focus on compassion and empathy, for both the mentee and ourselves as mentors. The model of design thinking (below) provides the foundation for this assignment.</div>]]></description>
