         <title>3 branches of US Government</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1.  Executive branch which includes the President and about 5 million workers with it. The president of the United States look after the Executive branch along with the Executive and Cabinet departments. It has independent government agencies. Their main responsibilities are to enforce the laws that the Legislative branch creates, power to veto bills that they make, and can also appoint judges and pardon power in the Judicial branch.<br><br>2. Legislative branch is the branch of congress which consists of a Senate and House of Representatives. Their main responsibility is to make the laws to govern the country. Their responsibility also include managing the affairs of state such as financial affairs, foreign affairs, law and order, approving treaties etc. They also have the power of impeachment towards the President and can override vetoes with 2/3 the majority vote. The can also approve of federal judges.<br> <br>3. Judicial branch under which lies the Supreme court, federal court and the other lower courts. The Supreme court's role is to interpret the constitution and limit the powers of the other branches of government. It also determines which law and policies are constitutional or can be allowed. Other than that, The judicial branch is responsible for <br>evaluating the laws formed by the government. Their duties include looking after the constitution, review the laws and decide matters related to the state's affairs.  </div>]]></description>

Without this, the US would have lacked the morals and principals to act as a force for civil rights around the world.<br><br>2. 15th amendment: Makes it unconstitutional to restrict voting based on gender and race. Another Reconstruction amendment that gave the rights of former slaves.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Checks and balances</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The purpose of having checks and balances is to limit the power of each branch so that no one branch can hold too much power.&nbsp;</div><ul><li>The legislative branch makes laws, but the judicial branch can declare those laws unconstitutional.</li><li>The President in the executive branch can veto a law, but the legislative branch can override that veto with enough votes.</li><li>The executive branch can declare Executive Orders, which are like proclamations that carry the force of law, but the judicial branch can declare those acts unconstitutional.</li></ul>]]></description>

         <title>Proposals to fix the issues in the constitution</title>

No more electoral college system - "The electoral college system for electing the president skews the national focus to a few all important states and their issues. By replacing the electoral college with direct election of the president, campaigns would have to treat states more equally. Plus, the ability to influence national results through corruption at the state level would be reduced."<br><br>2.&nbsp;Supermajority to overturn laws -- A supermajority of atleast 7 supreme court justices shoud be required to overturn laws as unconstitutional. </div>]]></description>
