In silent lines, they walked the dust,
Beneath the weight of fate unjust.
Barbed wire curled like twisted lies,
As hope flickered in weary eyes.

The stars they wore, yellow and bright,
Now symbols of a stolen light.
Names became numbers, faces blurred,
A world where screams were left unheard.

Yet in the dark, a whisper grew,
Of lives once lived, of dreams they knew.
Through shattered chains and broken stone,
Their strength endured, though flesh and bone.

For even where the shadows lay,
The human spirit finds its way.
In Dachau’s cold and bitter air,
The flame of memory lingers there.

Explanation: This poem tries to capture both the suffering and the enduring spirit of those who endured the horrors of Dachau

I stand in silence while my whole life flashes before my eyes

I try to maintain the silence

thinking will I ever see my family again, will we ever be free,

A voice in my head says yes, but deep down I know I will never feel the same

Will I ever leave?

Screams, messes, fires bones,

I cant get out of this prison!!!!

I hoped for it all to end

It never did

I always wonder "What if that was me?"

The weeping ,crying, and all the tears,

The sighing, and the creeping fears,

All of the people that are gone,

They'll be here till the end of dawn,

They never know when they'll be free,

Explanation: I made this poem to try and capture the fear of a Jew wondering when they will be killed, and if they will survive while watching everyone around them die in the horrors of the camp Dachau.

I walk through the camp loose gravel below my feet,

As I hear the silent screams of those who passed.

the barbed wire rattles violently and fast.

I now walk in the place where the unfortunate walk.

I see what they see.

yet I don't feel what they feel.

I will never feel what they felt.

The wooden beds where the wounded once lay.

The wall where the poor broken souls rest for the last time on earth.

Once a place where Jews were tortured to death by the Nazi party. A place where millions died because of the Nazi party. The place where many suffered because of the Nazi party. The place where their bodies were burned to ashes against their will because of the Nazi party. Oh,,, Nazi Germany? What have you done?

With tall fences and stories so sad,
It makes me think of the good and the bad.

People suffered and voices cried,
But we can learn from those who tried.

In the quiet, their spirits stay,
Reminding us to be kind every day.

Even though dark times came and went,
We can remember and show respect.

Hand in hand, let’s share our light,
To make the world better, shining bright.

What this means is that even though there are very dark times, we should not just weep for them but remember them and how they would want us to act and change the world.
