My grandpa was able to get US citizenship because my great grandfather fought for the US Army in the  Philippine scout organization. They weren't married and soon after they split up. It didn't really affect my childhood because it happened at a very early part of my life. They were both naive for not aborting me as they knew it would be tough to take care of me. My paternal grandma worked in a Psychward as a nurse, and it was crazy in there. She is very stern and strict to me and my cousins because of her mean nature but also because of her past job. My paternal grandpa worked as a farmer and construction worker. My maternal grandma worked also very labor demanding jobs like factory jobs. This area has mostly black and latino residents. I think in all the areas i've lived, ive always been surrounded by people of my ethnicity. 

I remember eating a lot of struggle meals like eggs with sausage and rice and quesdillas. Lawndale was right between both cities and it was cheaper than living in either. South bay is much nicer than the areas i was living in in south central. She has felt a lot of discrimination such as being underpaid compared to the rest of her employees.
