During this lesson what I have learnt is to

Empathize with others

do not judge others based on purely what you see but instead try to understand with others

For example in one of the videos the son disliked the father because he was poor but hadn't realized only until the father died where the charity pointed out and awarded the boy for donating money.

The second video shows an auntie asking for rent rudely in a way and other people filming her making and painting her as a horrible person

Lastly we also did an activity watching parents maternity and paternity leaves and as a team we each had a role for example government, parents, employees and employers this then allows us to be in the shoes of each role making us able to empathize with all the different groups

Yes this activity has revealed more experiences that I initially thought I realized that some of my other classmates are standing in the complete opposite of me so in a way I feel as though maybe I did grow up with privileges to not experience all the negative things that they experienced.

Before doing activity 2 I honestly thought that stereotyping and discrimination was the same thing and after my teacher explain it to me now I understand

Activity 2 - I used to assume that because Singapore is a multi-racial country racism cannot actually be that bad but after this activity and listening to my teammates I now realize that my thinking was very shallow.

from this lesson i learnt how to analyze evolving Singaporean identity.

activity 1 - I did Singapore Water Story, I believe that as Singaporeans before they implemented New water we all thought that drinking our urine was gross and to continue importing water from Malaysia. This then shows that all Singaporeans have shared at least one experience like this.

I have also learnt that our Singaporean identity is not stagnant and always evolving due to reasons like generation change and maybe just even situations like activity 2 for example the hawker culture.
