Recently, my family adopted our second rescue animal. Rocco came from an abusive home and was very unsure about new environments. Additionally, my other dog, Mona, was not very fond of him at first and treated him like an intruder (took his toys, barked, and acted territorial). After many restless nights and bouts of barking, both dogs have become the best of friends. They have truly become one "pack". I will tell this story via staged pictures of my dogs and pictures of them in the moment, which can be used to tell the aforementioned story. I want to use color to show emotion in this project (example: red for aggression). I also want to use digitally enhanced light and darkness to capture feelings of happiness and isolation, respectively.

Hero Image

An ideal hero image for my project would include both of my dogs, their "habitats/environments" (dog bed and cage), and a feeling of tension created by how the dogs are looking at each other. A longer, horizontal shot could capture all of these elements.

Establishing Shot

A good establishing shot would be a bird's-eye picture of both a dog case and a dog bed. This would set the stage for the events and emotions of the project. This would also show two conflicting emotions: a sense of freedom and comfort with the dog bed and a sense of fear and isolation with the cage.

One potential idea would be a person holding both dogs, which would symbolize a final feeling of happiness and relief from their togetherness. Another potential idea would be two individual portraits taken of the dogs themselves, capturing their feelings during a specific part of the narrative (examples: a dog smiling or a dog frowning).

Detail Shot

A good detail shot would be a close-up of one of the dogs' possessions. If I capture a unique angle, perhaps of the toy buried and hidden away, I could create a feeling of tension as it would be clear that this is an item that a dog would be territorial over and want to hide. Alternatively, I could get a close-up of a dog's fur when it is raised.

Storytelling Elements

As mentioned previously, I want to use color to show emotion (example: red for aggression). I want this to be a common theme throughout the project. For example, all items or moments resembling "aggression" would have a similar editing style or red accents. I will also use light and dark to capture emotion. I could use natural light in the morning to get interesting lighting that could be edited to enhance emotion.
