When I am forced to do something or attend a professional PD that I am not interested in or feel is a waste of time, I will not put forth a lot of effort. This is the same with students. If students are not motivated to learn the content, then they will not put forth the effort either. In the video in the readings, it says if you reward the behavior you want, you will get more of that behavior. I know I love prizes and free stuff, so I am using my personal experience when planning my PD and trainings. In my trainings to promote engagement and discussion, I will give out a ticket every time an educator shares something. At the end of the training, I will pick a ticket to win a $5 Amazon gift card.
