Sudden societal and cultural changes pose significant challenges to individuals and
communities, including loss of familiarity, increased anxiety and stress, social dislocation, and
conflict and tension. These challenges can make it difficult for people to adapt to new
circumstances, and may lead to feelings of isolation, disconnection, and even mental and
physical health problems. In addition, sudden changes may also lead to resistance or rejection of
new ideas, values, and beliefs, resulting in conflict and social fragmentation. Therefore, effective
coping strategies are needed to help individuals and communities navigate sudden societal and
cultural changes and minimize the negative impacts.
