I believe this song represents all the awful things that happened during WW2, the atrocities. It represents how Eva felt during this time, before her death she had almost given up and she wrote about how she had little faith. With how awful the world was.

This song reminds me of Heyman because of her courage and strength and faith. Eva did lose faith, especially near her death, but never completely and always had hope. She wanted everything to be alright again. She wanted to get out and have everything still, that's why this song reminds me of her. She had faith and wanted everything to be better.

Auschwitz opened in 1940 and was the largest of the Nazi concentration camps. Located in southern Poland, it initially served as a detention center for political prisoners. However, it evolved into a network of camps where Jewish people and other perceived enemies of the Nazi state were exterminated, often in gas chambers, or used as slave labor. More than 1 million people, by some accounts, lost their lives at Auschwitz.

Heyman's parents divorced when she was a young child. Her mother was living in Paris when the Germans invaded Poland. But then got deported and was held at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp but later was rescued from the camp and made it safely to Switzerland. While Eva's mother and stepfather managed to escape from the ghetto, Eva and her grandparents met their end in the gas chambers. Her mother made it out but then committed suicide after Eva's dairy was published.

Eva kept a diary during the holocaust, showing the terrifying times she lived through. There were entries even up to right before her death. Even though she didn’t have much time to live and write she shared a lot of deep words. The jews of her city were forced into a cramped and unsanitary ghetto. Two months later Eva was deported to Auschwitz, deportations began on May 24. Until the end, Eva hoped, although she was getting more and more scared, that maybe she would escape. "I, my Little Journal, do not want to die, I want to live, even if out of the whole sector only I could stay here...". She was then murdered on October 1944 in Auschwitz.

Eva’s diary has had a huge impact on how we feel and what we know about the holocaust itself. We see the awful things she and so many more had to experience during this time. She was very passionate in her writing because she wrote right up until her death. She shares some deep truths and brave words to the world through her diary. Many younger girls today share her story through instagram because she has inspired them so deeply through her works. In 2019, an Israeli businessman and his daughter launched an interesting project: an Instagram account called "Eva stories", with actors performing small scenes from the little Jewish girl's diary, which gathered 1.2 million followers. Eva Heyman's diary, recovered by her mother from the family cook, who took her out of the ghetto, has been published, re-edited and translated.
