When we got there it so pretty with flowers and so much sunlight and since I was smaller, I thought this was how the whole world looked and worked and I was super happy about it. But a few weeks after that we went on a road trip, and we passed this huge hole in the ground, me being an outer space fanatic, immediately thought it was a crater. We pulled over and saw a bunch of signs that said Oman Oasis. One of the signs said that it had been closed since 1999. I was really shocked by how that big of a lake could dry out in such a short time. Trees and all too! We used to go to the same corniche that led out to the ocean every weekend. This one time, my dad was letting me hold the pole, and it jerked! My dad reeled it in and we saw a fish completely coated in black goo, I wanted to touch it but my dad kept telling me not to :( he told me it was covered in oil since UAE is so popular for oil, an oil spill wouldn’t be so rare. When we got home I searched up oil spills and really didn’t like the idea of it at first. To child Amy, it seemed like oil spills hurt marine life, and were overall really bad for the ocean. We found a turtle and picked it up, it  had a bunch of plastic in its mouth,  and when we pulled it a looong string of plastic came out.
