In 1939, when World War II began, there were approximately 1.6 million Jewish children living in the territories that the German armies or their allies would occupy. By the end of the war, in May 1945, more than 1 million of them had been murdered through Nazi genocide programs. (OBS: currently, through the study of new data, the sum is 1.5 million children murdered)

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is a British drama film released in 2008, based on a novel with the same name, written by John Boyne; it goes on the World War II-era Germany, at a Nazi family home and a concentration camp.

The film is about a eight-year-old German boy called Bruno (Asa Butterfield), who’s father (David Thewlis) is a Nazi commandant and gets a promotion, moving from Berlin into the countryside with Bruno’s mother and sister. There, they stay in a house near from a concentration camp, and one day, exploring the backyard, Bruno finds the fence that separate him from the Jewish prison; through that fence he sees people with striped pajamas in a farm, and meets a boy called Shmuel (Jack Scanlon). Bruno and Shmuel become friends, completely not concerned about what was going on, and there begins a tragic story about a dangerous friendship.

The actors are great, they really get into their characters allowing us to feel their feelings; the scenography is really detailed, with scenery and costumes faithful to the time that the film portrays; the soundtrack is smooth, and there's no need for special effects.

Generally, the film's amazing; it introduces us to the World War II scenario from the perspective of a Nazi child and his Jewish little friend, which is very interesting since most of the films about World War II tells the story from the adult's perspective. See the world through child's eyes allow us to understand that not all of the people during the World War II knew what was happening, like the children, that saw all of that with innocence.
