Shrimp farming begins with selecting a suitable location, usually coastal ponds with access to clean, brackish water. The process starts with pond preparation, which includes cleaning, drying, and fertilizing to create a healthy environment. Next, hatchery-raised shrimp larvae (post-larvae) are stocked in the ponds at a controlled density.

Water quality is carefully monitored and managed throughout the growing cycle, including salinity, pH, temperature, and oxygen levels. Shrimp are fed specially formulated pellets several times a day to support growth. As they mature, farmers regularly check their size and health.

The growth period typically lasts 3–6 months, depending on the species and conditions. Once shrimp reach market size, they are harvested by draining the pond or using nets. After harvesting, the shrimp are sorted, washed, and packed for transport. Finally, ponds are cleaned and rested before starting a new cycle, ensuring sustainability and biosecurity.
