This shows how the conch is a symbol for civilization and order. Who ever has the conch is in a position of leadership and by Jack saying they don't need it anymore, he does away with that structure and they descend into more savagery and discord.

the conch is something that tells everyone when to come to a meeting or when they can speak during a meeting. It kinda keeps everything together and more organized so not everyones talking at once. Its symbolizes order. Pg. 36

The masks represent the cover up of their innocence and pureness that they learned in England. Jack finds the clay and smears it on his face, thinking it will make him a better hunter. Jack is letting go of everything they learned back home while others, like Bill, still remember and practice those ways.

In this book, fear symbolizes how the boys are afraid to be on this island. Talk of a beastie puts the boys on edge, and going more into the book, they're beginning to become more frightened. They're mistaking certain things for the beastie thing.

This shows how, when Jack was angry, he took his anger out by hitting Piggy. This is important because it now makes Piggy more valuable. The glasses symbolize rescue and fire because they are currently the only way the boys know how to create a fire to make smoke. When Jack hit Piggy, it caused one of the lens to break. This means that if something else were to happen to Piggy's glasses, they would have no way of making a fire and would have no chance of rescue. This protects Piggy because if Jack were to hit him again, he would risk breaking the glasses completely.

The shelters represent a home, I guess. Ralph knows that he and the boys aren't going to be rescued anytime soon, so he's trying to make a home out of the island by creating shelters. Nobody else really has the same idea, though. Simon was only helping him because he's loyal, and everyone else seems to find pleasure in other things.

The beast symbolizes fear and uncertainty of the unknown. The boys have never seen this beast, yet they fear it. The "beast" is a figment of their fear. They don't know where they are or really anything about this island, which is causing paranoia.

This symbolizes Piggy's emotion like here when he's intimidated by Jack's superiority and another part in the book when he is talking about his parents he seems to wipe his glasses.

The littleuns represent innocence that all the boys have. they're young boys who've never experienced the dangers of being alone for long periods of time. This is shown when the littleuns are building sandcastles on page 59 where it states "They had built castles in the sand at the bar of the little river"

The fire is the main symbol for hope on the island. I think hope is the is the only thing that gives the boys a minuscule shred of sanity.

The fire on this island is a symbol of civlization and togetherness because the fire is the only thing that keeps them together. The fire still gives them a sense of hope that they may still get rescued. On page 71 it says " Then you go off hunting and let the fire out...he turned away silent for a moment. Then his voice came again on a peak of feeling, There was a ship."

There is a lot of fear on the island fear of death, fear of fire, fear of the beast. The fear controls most of the little kids and it effects how they function on the island and what they do like. Piggy supreses his fear and jack takes it out on the pig's.

The shelters could be seen in two different ways.
One way is for a roof over one's head to not get rained on, etc.
The other way is less of a house, more of a sanctuary.
The shelter could be just a place that doesn't feel threatened or a peaceful place. This shelter, for Percival and some of the other young ones, is that sanctuary. It's an escape from reality, sort of thing.

This piece of text evidence shows how much power Ralph has put into the conch shell. Ralph is afraid that if he blows the conch and no one returns, everything will erupt into chaos. Therefore, he does not blow the conch for fear of losing his position as leader and uncontrollable turmoil.

The idea of a "Beast" or "Beastie" being on the island is a representation of the fear that has overcome the group of boys and also the slowly degrading control and order on the island and the madness inside of everybody. On page 91 Jack ignores what Ralph tells him. " The rules!" shouted Ralph. "You're breaking the rules!"
"Who cares?"
Ralph summoned his wits.
"Because the rules are the only thing we've got!"
But Jack was shouting against him. 
"Bullocks to the rules! We're strong-we hunt! If there's a beast, we'll hunt it down! We'll close in and beat and beat and beat-!"

The island symbolizes fear for the boys. I think they fear the island because it's sort of an unknown territory. there could be anything in the jungle and they always hear random noises at night that scare the littluns. The island is a very dangerous place and there could be something lurking in it, maybe even something not even the hunters can 🤬, such as a beastie.

The littleuns are very small and innocent, there are a lot of them and the only one who looks after them is Piggy. Piggy is forced to look after them and if he could he would´t. The littleuns do not know when to stop playing and when to play. They mostly cry, play, and sleep.

When it says that he planned his new face its meaning that there is a new Jack that turned savage and him covering up his face is him covering up his humanity in favor of savagery.

Ralph is getting frustrated that him and Simon are doing all the work by building the shelters, and the rest of the boys are working for a little bit and then wandering off to go have fun and do what they want to do.

As an answer Jack dropped into the uncomprehending silence that followed it the one crude expressive syllable. Release was immense. Those littluns who had climbed back on the twister fell off again and did not mind. The hunters were screaming with delight.
Simon's effort fell about him in ruins; the laughter beat him cruelly and he shrank away defenseless to his seat.
At last the assembly was silent again. Someone spoke out of turn.
"Maybe he means it's some sort of ghost."
Ralph lifted the conch and peered into the gloom.

Piggy took the conch out of his hands. His voice was indignant.
"I don't believe in ghosts—ever!"
Jack was up too, unaccountably angry.
"Who cares what you believe—Fatty!"

The rest of the boys are so enveloped in a sense of fear for this "beast" that they will go as far as to avoid calling it something out of the physical realm, as Simon describes. The only ones who will think logically at this point about this "fear of a beast" are Simon and Piggy, even though even Piggy is starting to lose his grip on the logical side of the argument. So, instead of embracing this "beast" as something that isn't physical, but is mental/emotional, the rest of the boys point to the supernatural or superstition as they see Simon's real view as impossible. However, as seen in the part highlighted in bold, Piggy does seem to understand Simon for one moment.

I feel as if fire represents hope. Most, if not all boys hope to be rescued, and the only way that is going to happen is if the fire is going. A ship passing by would see the fire and possibly come and get them. When the fire went out, Ralph lost hope of getting rescued that night, because there was no other way to be seen. So, when the fire is going there is always a shred of hope to cling to, when the fire is out... its out as well.

Simon compares the island to the beastie: the beastie is mysterious and nobody knows what it is. the island still has parts of it unexplored that could be good or bad. In the undiscovered mysterious parts of the island things could be hiding, things like the beastie. The island could represent the fear people have of the unknown.
