Assalammualaikum and hello everyone especially Dr Husna :)

My name is Nurul Aina Asyikin, can call me Aina. When I have free time, I love to take a walk at the Tasik Shah Alam nearby my house, the view is really nice, but if I lazy I will play with my cats (Oyen and Uteh, the names does describe their colors) while gardening (I love gardening, I have planted brazilian spinach, curry, pandan, pegaga and some other decorative plants) and also would prefer to watch Netflix or Documentary on Youtube channel (history, crime, travel, mukbang, street food, fun facts or any videos related to it). I love to watch those kind of videos because it kind of open my mind and increase my knowledge about the world that we can not travel due to past time or far places.

Same as Bella, I also love to try new foods but if I love that particular food. I can eat the same thing every single day, as long as it cheap!

My long term goal is to find a stable job, and for me personally it is fine if the salary is not so much as long as I love to work in a positive environment and it is nearby my parents house. I think it is hard to find a job that suit with ourselves, but we can build it time by time. I never been far away from my family, since I only have 3 siblings, and I am the only daughter that can help my mom to do house chores and running errands.

My expectation in my FYP research is to learn, improve and give to others the benefits. I think, learning is not only for me personally, but what I can contribute to the society through my knowledge. Since I interested with this field which is infancy environmental, I believe that passion and interest can help me to overcome the hassle, hardship, difficulty and struggling to finish my FYP. It is not an easy process, but I hope and believe that Dr Husna and my friends can help me to go through it.

During presentation

- Include the latest data on prevalence of preterm infants in Malaysia (from NOR 2016-2017)

- Slide 6, look back at where (Blencowe et., 2012) get the data on prevalence of preterm infants

- Always go to original data/references when citing

- Dr said - Good thinking on why focusing on late preterm birth (they treated late preterm as term birth although growth and developments is not the same)

- Know the difference between accelerated/rapid growth and catch-up growth

- Slide 12, understand what is the feeding practice stated in the slide/rather than keep saying on feeding practice, try to look on breastfeeding perspectives (as longer/exclusively breastfeed can also reduce rehospitalization rate due to immunity)

- Slide 12, look back on what is the best recommendation for feeding in late preterm infants (breastfeeding is the best feeding in late preterm infants as most of the baby have develop the sucking and can latch directly from the mother)

- Slides 12, the way I explain can trigger some controversial – is it really true that longer length of stay in hospital is better as baby will separated with mother longer? Is it really true that longer length of stay can reduce rehospitalization? Why it happens?

- Provide pros and cons for each (why longer LOS is better or why shorter LOS is better)

- How long is the length of stay of late preterm babies

- Can put the data on late preterm babies discharge early but comeback to hospital due to jaundice issue

- Slide 14, understand better why jaundice happens in babies, what factors that help to reduce jaundice (the more babies being feed, the more stool and urine, the more excrete of bilirubin)

- Explore on what is the difference between breastmilk jaundice and breastfeeding jaundice

- Slide 18, very late preterm have possibilities to rehospitalize due to jaundice as they discharge early but preterm 32w – 35w most of them stay around 1 week in the hospitals so they detect the jaundice while the babies are still in the hospital

- Study on Cooke study – on what types of infants? Is it review papers?

- Know the population of the papers, age range, country, is it review paper or research paper when citing the paper

- Term formula vs enriched formula –>look back on what purpose of this study

- Include this, Maternal stress -> lead to less responsive to infant’s cues of hunger/full -> affect the way of mother feed the babies

- Slide 27, Include that psychology state/depression state in mothers can be prolonged from before pregnancy to after postpartum

- For research question, if the answer has been found, put in the literature

- Look on the neonatal management in Malaysia

- Slide 46, how do they measure the breastmilk intake in the study (Samuel et al., 2012)

- Slide 46, try to look study on preterm infants first

- For dv, mention about corrected age (as I will use the corrected age in growth chart for my dv)

After presentation
- How to calculate weight gain? How to measure it? from what age to what age?

- Include the studies in the slides why I want to measure weight gain of infants at 4 months? What is the justification? Have to convince dr

- Discuss with min min what is the age range for babies in the study (doesn’t have to be exactly at 4 months, it can be 4 – 6 months)

- When is the sensitive critical period if the infants doesn’t receive appropriate weight gain that can affect them later

- Include on what is the consequences of not achieve appropriate weight gain? <- this can justify the significance of my study

- For infant’s health characteristic iv, relook back and find study that focus on preterm study and read on management guideline

- For feeding practice iv, look at neonatal guideline WHO, pediatric association, ESPGHAN, Malaysia on what is the appropriate feeding practice for preterm babies

- For psychological iv, look on how about the direct support/support at the hospital/ most support is lacking at hospital

- Is it fast weight gain is good or slow weight gain is good? Rapid weight gain lead to obesity, slow weight gain lead to developmental delay, too much is a problem and too slow is also a problem

- What is the optimal weight gain that considered to be healthy among preterm infants?

- Read more on the systematics review paper
- Can start do on proposal writing after I have better understanding on my topic

The most important is to know limitations of the research, and mention them in the thesis. We also need to state the way we overcome the limitations. (eg: recall bias/acknowledge low response rate)

Some questions for preterm study look repetitive (feedback’s from respondent)

Question for educational level (Section A, A4) - can add in bracket for Master and PhD in the postgraduate answer

Question for occupation (Section A, A5) - occupation need to combine retiree and not working - the purpose is not doing something else

(Section B, B7) - merge the answer - separated due to the baby’s health or mother’s health condition

COVID-19 related questions (Section B, B12b) - merge 3 questions into 1 question (questions regarding isolation, positive, of negative COVID-19)

(Section B, B12i) - merge the answer - yes, my breastfeeding has been disrupted causing problem to milk supply

Measurement related questions (B13a - B15c) - check back which one is more critical either 1 months or current measurements (know limitation that we have possibility of missing data for the measurement) - at least we get data on weight if we not get data on length and head circumference

Measurement in g will change to measurement in kg

(Section D, D1) - retain the question about baby placement in the hospital, as it related to improves breastfeeding and psychology of the mothers

(Section D, 6num) - mention about complementary feeding because the mother seem to confuse and think it is adult food

(Section D, 6C) - change the sentence structure: Within this week have your baby consumed milk other than infant formula (eg: full cream milk, fresh milk, cow’s milk, goat’s milk)

(Section E, E2) - make the questions compulsory and if it's not related to the mother. They can put dash

(Section E, E6) - (1) merge the answer - ‘Breast were infected (yeast and abscessed)’ , (2) take out ‘I wanted to go back to usual diet’, (3) merge the answer - ‘I had trouble getting milk flow to start or take too long for milk to come in’

(Section E, E8 and E9) - just ignore those who answer no in E8 if they answer question E9, as they might receive any helps from others (other than health professional)

Postpartum maternity care (Section G) - add in instruction: Please answer based on the postpartum maternity care that you have been practicing during the confinement period ← something like this instruction to let them know that they have to recall the practice during confinement period.

(Section G) - add in answer option in all benefits questions : None/No effect

(Section G, G2.2) - put range 5 - 6 likert scale

(Section G, G2.3) - do ordinal for hour question (eg: less than 30 minutes) (try to look based on previous data, if not it's okay to put based on pretest study)

(Section I) - consider taking out the anxiety questionnaire (BAI) if it is confusing and not significant. It won't affect much if we take out BAI because it quite biased because the mothers are already 6 months after delivery

Set how many pages of the questionnaire that can be seen by the respondents in the google form

Presentation data - not important to present percentage for each question 1 by 1 (unless we have issues with the questions). Score the questionnaire using excel and add score results in SPSS.

Token of appreciation - use Shopee voucher to give to the mothers (RM10/mother), if the mothers ask other option; can use touch n go e-wallet

Set up one Shopee account using mom study email - shopee account of mom study

Get ready all documents, posters and captions (for FB group/page/Whatsapp) before ethics approval so that it can blast immediately after ethics approval.

Improvements/ discussion from the meeting

  · If want to reduce 2 days 24-hour dietary recall to 1 day, we will need a larger sample size to reduce the variability

  · 10 questions were deleted/changed from Part H: Environmental Pollution, and 1 question from Part I: Infant sleep questionnaire were changed

  · For the Part I: Infant sleep questionnaire, we cannot simply delete questionnaire with scoring – but we change the question structure from “Where does your child sleep for most of the night?” to “Where does your child usually fall asleep at bedtime”

  · Suggest to calculate and present scoring data instead show each item, because scoring will affect the overall data

  · We decided to remove EPDS because mother with children aged 1-3 years old might have mild/no symptoms of post-natal depressions, and we found article that mostly used EPDS as soon as mother give birth to child, not until the child is 1 year old and above. However, we retain PSS.

  · Revise back method used in 24-hour dietary recall, instead of WhatsApp/email them, change to online interview session (Zoom, Google Meet etc.) and scheduled the interview with the mother

  · Show figures/pictures of measuring tools (plate, bowl, cup, etc) to reduce confusion

  · Try to reduce measurement bias (e.g. choose the best day to record their child meal instead of another day)

  · Try to address limitations, attract mother with attractive token of appreciation, especially direct or fast rewards (e.g. Shopee pay, e-Wallet)

   · For data analysis, if we have frequency in range data, we can use ordinal data to analyse

   · For scoring method, try to key-in and use the Excel file, and then just insert the score result into SPSS

   · Prepare for all materials/documents/preparation for the study, so as soon as we get the approval from JKEUPM and MREC, we can start immediately the data collection process

· The materials needed:

1. Questionnaire

        - Online questionnaire: Link Google Form/ QR Code

        - Hardcopy questionnaire (if MREC approve)

2. Poster of the study

        - Canva (BM and English version)

3. Blasting messages/email/ caption

        - WhatsApp

        - Caption for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram

4. Reward/ token of appreciation

        - Shopee account: Shopee Pay (RM10/mother)

        - Touch n GO (for back up)

        - E-certificate

        - E-book

        - Dr. Chin’s previous study goodies and reward (if MREC approve)
