1. ethics: norms for conduct that distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable behaviour.

2. Utilitarianism is an ethics theory that determines right from wrong by focusing on outcome. It is a form of consequentalism.
Deontology is an enthics that uses rules to distinguish right from wrong.

3. Why we need to take ethical considerations into account in social science research? many of the norms of research promote a variety of other important moral and social values, such as social responsibility, human rights, and animal welfare, compliance with the law, and public health and safety. Ethical lapses in research can significantly harm human and animal subjects, students, and the public. For example, a researcher who fabricates data in a clinical trial may harm or even kill patients, and a researcher who fails to abide by regulations and guidelines relating to radiation or biological safety may jeopardize his health and safety or the health and safety of staff and students.

Explain and provide an example for each. Utilitarianism: choosing ice cream for yourself

Deontology: an act that is not good morally can lead to something good

1. It is a kind of rules. Ethics is the branch of the social science, which deal with concepts such as right and wrong, good and bad, fair and unfair, just and unjust, legal and illegal, moral and immoral, proper and improper in respect of human actions. It is a science of morality which guides the actions of individuals or groups.

2.Utilitarianism & Deontology
Utilitarianism: it is a moral framework, utilitarianism emphasis on the pursuit of "maximum happiness"
example: the rule of market economy are utilitarian rules, which set for the maximum sum of social welfare
Deontology: Deontology is one of the normative theories that morally require, prohibit or allow choice. In other words, deontology belongs to the field of Deontology that guides and evaluates the choices we should make.
example: If you’re a Hindu you might believe that it’s wrong to eat beef; this rule would be part of our deontology because we think it is wrong to eat beef

3.Social science research takes human social phenomena as its research object, and its research process is directly related to human beings. Scientific research results are for the benefit of human beings. Ethics and morality are actually a unified whole, which are directly for human beings. Only in this way can social science research get as objective research results as possible and achieve the purpose of promoting human society.

1. This is the most common way of defining "ethics": norms for conduct that distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable behavior.
2. Uses rules to distinguish right from wrong, Follows the rules, doesn't break them.
Kant believed that ethical actions follow universal moral laws such as don't lie, don't steal, don't cheat.
In deciding what is right and what is wrong, the possible consequences of our actions will be ignored.
3. Why： We can also use ethical concepts and principles to criticize, evaluate, propose, or interpret laws. Indeed, in the last century, many social reformers have urged citizens to disobey laws they regarded as immoral or unjust laws.
