Midnight Sun-Stephanie Meyer

What can I say about this book? I kept waiting for it to get better--in fact I'm still waiting. This book is over 600 pages.
Midnight Sun is part of the infamous Twilight series; this book is essentially the plot of Twilight told from Edward's point of view.
New girl moves to a town, a town inhabited by vampires. Vampire falls in love with the girl. Vampire tries to avoid girl. Fails. Light stalking turns to heavy stalking. Danger follows.
Edward talks a lot. Like, A LOT. At one point, I re-read part of Twilight to get an idea of where we were in the plot and it was nowhere near where I was (page wise). He repeats himself, has a really bad self esteem (while STILL thinking he is better than everyone else) , and puts Bella on a pedestal (which is super annoying).
Have I finished this book? No. Will I? Yes. If another one of these Twilight books comes out will I buy it? Yeah, I've read the rest of them, why not another one? Would I recommend you read this? Only if you're a Twi-hard. Otherwise, like me, you will be wondering why you are wasting your time.

"Keeper of the Lost Cities," (1) By Shannon Messenger

This series, or in this case, book one of this series, is by far one of my all time favorite book(s) to read, as it's thrilling, interesting, and just all around amazing! The genre of this series/book is fantasy and mystery, and it's combined ever so well! Since I've chosen the first book to write about, then I'll sadly have to stick to summarizing the first book, so here it goes!!!

Sophie Foster, a 12 year old child prodigy, is a unique young girl who has never fit into society. Her life was lonely and confusing, as ever since a tragic head injury, she has been hearing . . . voices.
The voices were like sirens, blaring through her mind like a lightning strike, unable to be contained and subdued. These voices were people's thoughts around her, and in fear of discovery, she kept it hidden for an entire12 years.
Until one faithful day, where a handsome teal eyed boy, Fitz Vacker, came up to her and showed her a whole new world, full of people just like her.
The Lost Cities, the world of elves, was a magical world with no famine, war, poverty, and a place where mythical species like elves, dwarves, ogres, goblins, and gnomes lived in harmony. It was the perfect fairy tale world, a world where Sophie knew she finally belonged.
But her newfound home wouldn't be as perfect for long, as peril would strike the Lost Cities where they would least expect it. Friendships would be tested, rebellions would brew, and flames would be ignited.
Sophie Foster needed to stop this, she needed to protect her new home. She would never let anybody fall, she would protect both of her worlds, both human and elvin. She would strike down the rebellions and subdue the cruel criminals that dared to threaten her home, and bring her world to the peace it previously owned. She is the Keeper of the Lost Cities.

(IT'S SO GOOOOOD)

"Lady Midnight"- by Cassandra Clare

This book is one of my favorites, it would be really fun to draw some of the scenes sometime.
So far, a girl named Emma is a Shadowhunter (is that trademarked?) living in an institute in California. She is bound to her best friend by a contract, which is also called parabati. Until, one day when her parabati was out of town there were a series of killings. But, the body looked familiar... Emma's parents were killed the same way. Then, we dive into this thrilling mystery of, who or what is killing these people. Also it's a romance, but I'm in it for the mystery NOT the romance.
One of my favorite characters is a boy named Mark. Mark is half faerie and half Shadowhunter which means he has two different ... races in him. Which is extremely relatable because I'm a bi-racial kid . You can't pick between one or the other, you are both. Well at least that's what I learned from his character. Also, there was one scene where he bumped into a pole and said "Excuse me, ma'am" to the pole.
I have done this so many times to a wall it's not even funny.
Even so, I have finished this book before, and I'm re-reading for fun.

Dragonwatch is a sequel to the book Fablehave and like the origonal I love the book. So far two kids have got introduced to the magical world where dangerous and wonderous animals are hidden from the human world. As the two charicters, kendra and seth, completed many adventures they gained the trust to run a dragon sancritary. This is a dangerous task though knowing that the dragons at this time are revolting trying to gain there freedom. I really loved this book and I am already on the third book in the series.

"Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry" by Mildred D. Taylor - Historical Fiction

This book was a very different experience than most books that I have read. The book is told from the perspective of a girl named Cassie. Her family is African American, and due to the story taking place shortly after the Civil war, there are many examples of racism. People are attacked for no reason, the school for white children is the only one with a bus, and the list continues. What made the book different, was the ending. The novel does not end well, and the conclusion is open-ended and kind of heart-breaking. The characters are unsure if they can continue to pay of their land, or if their will be any justice for the victims of the book's events. I would certainly recommend this book to everyone that enjoys reading. I thought that the novel was written splendidly. This story was incredibly unique, and I still think about the characters, even though I finished it nearly a month ago.

"How We Roll" by Natasha Friend talks about a 13 year old girl that has this autoimmune disease called Alopecia. This disease caused all of her hair to fall out. This caused many troubles to Quinn, like getting teased by her schoolmates. Fortunately, she was moving to Gulls Head Massachusetts. This was because her younger brother, Julius, who had autism was accepted into a therapeutic day school. Because of this, Quinn was able to go to a different school to start things over. She even got a wig to cover up her bald head. By being able to start fresh at a new school with no one knowing that she was wearing a wig, Quinn felt so happy but also nervous that something bad was going to happen to her wig. But, there was actually nothing to worry about. Quinn was able to make friends quickly and adapt to her new school. In the end, she ends up getting the courage to tell her friends about her hair. This all ends with a wonderful ending, where she shows the whole school without actually telling them, the gift of life and abundant beauty.
This is absolutely one of my favorite books I've ever read. It's always exciting to read how the character progresses throughout the book. I also love this book because I can relate to some of things featured in this book.

It would tell both what is happening in the present and would have the past too.
Every summer since Belly (Isabel Conklin) was born she's been going to Cousin's Beach. Her mom's best friend Susannah has two sons Conrad and Jeremiah . Belly has a crush on Conrad for many years and wants to be notice as part of their group not as Stevens little sister. The year she comes the two boys see her differently or notice her now. Many things continue to happen and there is lots of drama between them.

This book was a really wonderful story that talks about the positives of having a certain person in our life that can change someones life in a short amount of time. Some people just judge off the way they look or by the way they act and don't know what's going on in there life. Someone could be known for being the happiest, always smiling girl on the outside while on the inside are going through some tough times. The author, Ally Condie, took us through the eyes of a 12 year old girl named Cedar Lee who judged her neighbor for looking or being poor and for riding his bike everywhere. Later onto the book, she starts to follow him to the places he rides to and notices that something tragic has happened to him and is just trying to visit his family.
The genre of this book is fiction and I would totally recommend this book. It teaches kids and even adults to never judge a book by its cover or to not judge people by the way they dress. This book mostly talks about the real world ahead of us and how know one really knows the real story behind a persons personality. The main character in my book actually ends up being friends with the neighbor, Leo, after she knew his backstory so you never know when your going to find the right person.

My Side of the Mountain by Jean C. George

This entertaining, realistic-fiction story is about a boy named Sam who runs away from home. His new home is built in a tree up in the Catskills Mountains, where whom he finds a bird to call his companion. He survives on wild animals, water and company. The story shows all the problems that he has to solve in order to survive. Living in the tree under the sun was not so bad, until he realizes that winter will start to hit the mountains and that if he does not take things more seriously he will not make it through the cold days. I really enjoy this book because it includes a lot of interesting detail and the writing is so fun to read. The author has rightfully earned both my admiration and respect, and he must've earned them from others as well; why else would this book win the Pulitzer Prize?

Mukherjee moves with elegant swiftness throughout the book; never lingering for too long on a certain topic, but bringing you deep underwater. First, it was a nameless young Peruvian tribeswoman, her body found with a bulging osteosarcoma-a bone cancer- which had most likely burst through her skin when she was alive. Then the Persian queen, Atossa, isolating herself in her chambers until a slave cut off her breast. Even the greatest physician of his time, Imhotep, said there was no cure for this disease: only death.
Next, Hippocrates bestowing it a name; cancer, because the tumor he had observed was crablike on the skin.

These are one of the only few stories which entertained me. I was always intrested about the concentration camps from world war 2. My grandparents were in them but they dont remember anything. After reading this book about the concentration camps i felt a boost in me to learn more about them.
The story starts off with a Japanese boy name Tomi who was born in Hawaii while the rest of his family was born in japan. Tomi was living a normal life with his family world war 2 was going on but in the mainland so Tomi didn't pay to much attention to it. Tomi was on a baseball team who was doing very well this season. everything was going fine until one day Hawaii was on lock down. If they see an airplane or a ship with any hint of a Japanese flag they will shoot them down. At this time Tomis uncle was fishing with no knowledge of this, so when he pulled out his Japanese flag he was sadly showdown. Tomi was devastated wince Tomi loved his uncle. To hear him getting killed at an early age broke him.

After a few days of going back to his normal life. While Tomi was outside two japanese jets flew straight over them. After a few minutes of shock. Tomis dad told him to get back inside. It turns out that Those jests that flew over Tomi bombed pearl harbor. After this soldiers came to many peoples house including tomis to take his dad and grandpa to camps which are now known as the concentration camps. After this incident people have been avoding Tomi calling him a 🤬 if anyone would walk by him. This has been going on for a year and soon Tomis grandpa and dad will finally walk through the door and be back home.

-Makayla Moromisato
This book is probably one of my favorite books of all time. Basically a teenage girl named Lina is sent to Florence, Italy which was her mothers dying wish. She is given a journal that was once her mothers and is sent on a journey with a boy named Ren to find out who her real father is and specifically why her mother wanted Lina to go to Italy.
I really loved this book because in a way it was sort of like a mystery but at the same time there was romance tied in with it which made the book way more interesting. I also liked how in the book Jenna Evans Welch includes real places from Italy which I found very interesting in hopes one day I might be able to travel to Italy and se these places. I would definitely recommend reading this!

This romantic sci-fi thriller revolves around Camden Pike and a strange, green light that allows people to travel to a parallel dimension of some sort. When a girl he's never met before, Nina, calls after him by the green light, he runs away. But one day he walks through the green light and steps into a world that's similar to his own, but different. In this world, his dead girlfriend, Viv, is alive and the Cam from here is dead. Should the alive Cam and Viv elope in one of the worlds, together, or should Cam stay in his own before the green light closes forever?

I loved this book because it was such a suspenseful realistic fiction, albeit the sci-fi aspects. The way all of the characters were so multifaceted and human was unbelievable. Their feelings were raw and relatable, and Hainsworth touches on the sociopathic thoughts that branch from good intentions. I truly enjoyed the realistic representations of grief, loss, regret, and desperation. I also enjoyed the fact that at the end of the novel, Cam discovered how to accept her death and let go of Viv. This was a truly inspiring read.

The Sea of Monsters is a fantasy adventure novel in which the protagonist is Percy Jackson who is a demigod. In Greek Mythology he is the son he is the son of the sea god , Poseidon. In this book Percy and his friends go on an adventure to rescue the Golden Fleece from Polyphemus the cyclop. The Fleece once belonged to a golden Ram. Percy and his friends needed get it back to the Camp where the borders were weakened by the tree of Thalia which had been poisoned. Percy and his friends rescued the fleece by getting help from the other demigods and demigoddesses.
I liked this book because it was filled with adventure, humor, and filled with many heroic and exciting events. It was also filled with many plot twists and unexpected events. Such as at the end the reader learns that Tyson the homeless kid is actually a cyclops and the son of Poseidon . Which makes him Percy's brother, I would recommend this book to people who have an interest in greek mythology and like to read books that are filled with many decisions that can change things forever the protagonist has to make.

The first two books are mostly about Emily and finding out about her family and father. The third book I'm reading revolves around Emily worrying about her family and a ring she found. Her parents had been fighting a lot more over her, and how she is not learning much in the sea. Aside from that, Emily finds a ring which only she can wear (semi-mer). The king is mad and wants the ring back and out of his sight. He curses Emily and she must choose between life with her father in the sea, or life with her mother on land.
- This book is entertaining and I can read a lot of pages yet feel like only five minutes went by! The story is well written with lots of details and good characters.

The Fifth Wave by Rick Yancey

The Fifth Wave is a sci fi book where aliens known as the Others are invading Earth to have it for themselves. They planned to this is five different waves. The first one was a technology wipe out that killed all phones, or basically anything that is electrical or technology based. The second wave was a massive tsunami that destroyed the costal population. The fourth was a plague that wiped out basically all of the population. The fourth one or the current one is where the aliens themselves come to Earth to kill the remaining humans. The main character Cassie is spending her time traveling across the country to save her little brother Sam from a camp where the Others are training kids to become basically their little weapons. Along the way she gets injured, falls in love with her savior, Evan, who was revealed to be an other. He helps her rescue her brother, and they get out.
I like this book because I feel like it really gives you like a perspective of life if everything just suddenly changed. I also like how all the aliens are seen as evil and I mean they are but I feel like if it weren't for Evan, Cassie would be dead and her brother would still be there. So basically don't judge someone because of what someone else is doing.

Is about a sixteen year-old girl who has the soul of a filmmaker named, Twinkle. She has a big crush on Neil Roy since forever, the down side he does not notice her. Neil is a athletic golden boy. Twinkle hopes this school year she can get with Neil. Neil also has a identical twin brother named, Sahil. Sahil is totally different he is a shy and not athletic boy but loves film making. Twinkles BFF named, Maddie now left her to be friends with the popular kids. So Twinkle is trying to do her best friend Maddie back by doing so many things. But what ever she tries Maddie just kind of ignores her. Twinkle then knows her only ticket in to get Maddie back is by dating Neil. So Twinkles main goal is to first get noticed by other popular people too. In one of conversations Sahil heard Twinkle say that. So he tries to help her by suggesting her to make a movie with him to get noticed. While that is going on she started to get emails from a secret admirer. He always ended his emails with an N. So Twinkle instantly thinks it is Neil Roy. But is it you can find that out on your own. Now that Maddie became friends with Hannah and Victoria Twinkle gets mad. Because they keep Maddie away from her when she has done nothing to Victoria and Hannah. While Twinkle is filming Maddie and Twinkle get into constant arguments over everything. At the end she finally finds out was N. Who was it you can find that out too.
I enjoyed reading, ¨From Twinkle,With Love.¨ This book has a little of everything, but drama especially. I like drama, but being in it no thank you. There are some parts I disliked and think it should of been different. But for the most part I liked how the story went along. What I think what pretty cool is that the author including some texting from some characters. That helps you deeper about each character in the story.

This book is a story about a 7th grade girl, Isabelle. she has never left her hometown, Oregon, ever. She dreams of one day traveling the world. Her mom wanted to open up a cupcake shop, so that is exactly what they did. They moved out of their old house and moved into what used to be a laundrymat. the cupcake shop is downstairs and their apartment is just right above it. Both her parents, her Grandmother and herself are all excited for the grand opening of It's Raining Cupcakes (thats what they named the shop). However, while prepping the shop for opening, they run into some difficulties, Is' mom lost confidence and wants to shut it down. meanwhile, Isabelle and her BFF Sophie find a baking contest they want to enter. The finalists get to fly over to New York. and of course Is wants to go so she can visit New York for the first time. Long story short, she got chosen for a finalist and got to live out her dream of traveling.
In my opinion, this book was a 5/10. I thought that overall the plot was not that bad, but the characters made me angry. The mom was very bossy and got what she wanted. she wanted to open up a cupcake shop, bam, she now owns a cupcake shop and also many other side components. I am not mad at this book selection and I am glad that I finished it. The genre for this is realistic fiction.
-Sage

In this book the people are separated into 12 districts. Some districts are favored by the capital and some are not. After the Quarter Quell Hunger Games, which is a battle royal with two tributes from each district, Katniss ended up in 13. She was rescued, while Peeta was captured by the district. During her recovery in district 13, she faces challenges like, whether or not she decides to become the Mocking jay. She also has to find a way to get Peeta safely back to 13, but she does not know if he is getting hurt or not. While Katniss' life is being changed, she has to get ready for war with the capital, but with her injuries throughout this book, she has to work hard to get to her goal. Which is to Kill president Snow.
I like this book because it shows how powerful Katniss is and how when something is wrong she can fight back and be a role model or leader to the people of Panem. I also like Dystopian books, which is also a contender. The genre of this book is Dystopian Fiction, Science Fiction, and Young Adult.

It's an exciting book and a little gory. It's one of many villains'' backstories. i can't wait to read the others.
- Ilyanna Smith
