There are two interrelated aspects to digital education to which the strategic priorities of this Action Plan will respond: firstly, the deployment of the vast and growing array of digital technologies (apps, platforms, software) to improve and extend education and training. Online, distance and blended learning are specific examples of how technology can be used to support teaching and learning processes. A second key aspect of digital education is the need to equip all learners with digital competences (knowledge, skills and attitudes) to live, work, learn and thrive in a world increasingly mediated by digital technologies. Addressing these two aspects of digital education requires policies and actions on several fronts, including infrastructure, strategy and leadership, teacher skills, learner skills, content, curricula, assessment and national legal frameworks. While Member States are responsible for the content of teaching and the organisation of their education and training systems, action at EU level can contribute to the development of quality and inclusive education and training by supporting cooperation, the exchange of good practice, frameworks, research, recommendations and other tools.

Students, teachers and parents should be etrained about disinformation. Especially the teachers have a big role in this, because they may understand that the information is incorrect and tell the students about this; or they say this disinformation to their students and also can share the information online. So it does nothing but contribute to the spread of false information. To prevent this, we should look on reliable sites such as Wikipedia and reliable news sources about education and not sharing things everything we saw, we should do a lot research about it.

Both teachers and students should be informed about disinformation and the harmful effects of disinformation online or through specific seminars. Another issue is the social media issue. For this reason, content uploaded to social media should be scanned after uploading and the spread of false information should be prevented. Therefore, teachers need to be %100 sure of what they are teaching. Because, as i said before, a student who has learned false is going to have diffuculty while learning the correct information. Maybe the student will never know that she/he learned wrong. So, it is really important for a teacher to teach the right information. Because students cannot verify or research everything they have learned in school.

I mean, we learn a lot when we go to primary school, but when we pass to middle school, we realize that the information we learned in primary school is wrong, then we learn different things again this time, the information we learned in Middle School is wrong according to what we learned in High school. This loop is spinning again and again.
As for the question. Of course, teachers and students should be taught. Because Social Media is increasing day by day and fake news too. When we teach primary school teachers and families, disinformation will decrease. And the spreading of unfounded knowledge can have very dangerous consequences, and teachers are also very important in this context because millions of students use the information they get from their teachers everywhere. Here are some ways to combat disinformation: Develop a critical mindset, check the source, see who else is reporting the story, examine the evidence, check that it "sounds right".

If it wasn' t we wouldn't discuss about it in this project right? To spot fake news first public need to be educated about fake news. And there can be archive website that helps people verifiyng information beacuse there can be lots of sources for one information and that can take a long time to verify that information by controlling every source and that is why most of the people today does not verify news. Also a licensing system that indicates websites and accounts that sharing facts online can be pretty helpful. To combat disinformation in eLearning however, I think ministries of education of the countries should make campaigns about fake news and open a reliable website that can help about all of the information students and teachers need.

The internet is by far the biggest library to ever exist, it has knowledge from all over the world and it is easily accessible by the majority of people (59% worldwide and 95% in Europe). Its users can both create and observe various websites that include articles. Articles are mostly written by humans and just like any human, authors don't know everything and there's always the case that one is simply lying for more attention. Unless there are multiple people reporting on the same issue you should definitely think of it as fake (guilty until proven innocent). You should also check for the reporter's credibility, there have been many cases where people completely disregarded the person's problematic past only to be fooled again, there are always exceptions but just in case, don't help them spread misinformation.

Frankly, I did some research on disinformation and realized that it was really harmful. Especially in a field such as education, this counts as manipulation in one respect. After all, there is a new generation going there to learn, and I think teachers are responsible for education as well as teaching, so solving this problem is also very important. In this case, I think the most effective solution is for parents to follow their children's education life closely. Of course, teachers and parents need to be informed about the importance of this issue. The capacities of children at the primary school level may change, at that age I believe that this education should be given by their parents in an appropriate language, and when they get older, seminars can be organized in schools for this. Apart from this, the importance of citing or checking the cited source in any article should be mentioned.

In my opinion misinformation is a serious problem these days. Most people under 50 get their information from the internet and social rather than from the mass media. Since anyone can be a star of the social media and spread any news and theories - this may lead to unpredictable consequences. Most people tend to believe rather than verify and analyse. This is the case with educated people as well. Therefore teachers should be encouraged to teach their students to verify facts. The simplest technique of fact checking is to get to the source of the original information. It is not difficult to trace the original source of information. It is only time consuming. If the original message is copied by many later sources as their own ( e.g. a description of events which happened specifically to them) such news no doubt is fake. It is also good to see who sponsors original authors of such news because they often work for money on behalf of their business sponsors eager to fight competition.

So , in my opinion there is no need to formally train teachers and students in fact new tracing. It’s enough to encourage teachers to urge their students to trace the source of information and their financial backing.

Andrea Bisonni, Italy Never as in this period is it important to know how to distinguish true news from everything circulating on the net and that feeds false beliefs. There are some simple rules to follow that can help us spot fake news and stay away from it. The things to look at are: the title, dates, images, the sources and the URL.The titles are the element that attracts the most, for this reason fake news leverage on exaggerated and high-sounding titles, the dates should always be checked because they could be old and proposed only for a few likes, Fake news frequently contains retouched photos or videos, make sure the news comes from a source you trust and or from a trusted site, and often the urls of information sites are crippled, so as to make them credible to an unwary eye, a news reported by a url very similar to that of an existing site, this could indicate that we are facing fake news.

In order for students and teachers to have a thorough view without being influenced by rumors and fake news, they must recognize and distinguish true news from fake news.

Determine whether other outlets are reporting the same news

When a big news event occurs, multiple media organizations will report it, even when they didn’t break the story. Search for other publications that have posted stories about the event or topic. If no other news outlets are reporting the story, be skeptical about the accuracy of the article or video.

Be leery of sensational headlines

Fake news is designed to strike an immediate emotional chord in audiences by using an alarming headline. Often people share such a story based solely on the headline, without even reading the article itself. If a headline attacks a newsworthy figure, seems outlandish, or simply lacks the ring of truth, search the internet for reliable sources that confirm the accuracy of the story and the headline (which are often written by two different people).

Fake news has crept into the classroom, with more than a third of teachers now seeing false information found online – cited in their pupil’s work or classroom discussions. This disturbing trend shows that despite an increase in the use of educational technology, many students still lack the digital literacy needed to distinguish between fact and fiction.
What can teachers do now to help students to recognise fake news?
- Raise awareness

While the internet offers huge advantages when it comes to accessing up-to-date information, far too often students take what they read at face value. So, first and foremost educators must raise awareness that not everything we see and read online is true.
  - Identify red flags

There are common denominators that are intrinsic when creating a fake news story; some of which are easier to spot than others. Teachers can provide pupils with links to real and fake sites and ask them to decide which one is more truthful and why. Teachers can also share real-life excerpts or videos, and using the ClassFlow poll functionality, get pupils to vote on what news they believe to be fake. Teachers should also encourage classroom discussion to find out why.
  - Look at propaganda

Teachers can use tools such as Pinterest to share images of popular propaganda through history, and examine how it influenced opinions and world events. The class can then discuss how 20th century propaganda differs from today’s 24-hour news cycle and ever-expanding online world. Can they still recognise propaganda when it comes from channels such as Facebook and YouTube?

For example, a key source of fake stories online is the automated Twitter bots. These accounts use artificial intelligence to mimic tweets and pretend to be a real people. Very often they generate tweets that link to fake news and contain specific keywords. The spreading of such misinformation can be massively influential when it comes to swaying popular opinion, particularly during elections.
In conclusion, teaching students how to thrive in our internet dominated world is now as important as reading and writing; with a digital literacy curriculum likely to be just around the corner. For now, it is up to the government, online providers, parents, and teachers to work together to support and protect pupils online. And give them the skills they need to thrive.

A lot of teenagers might stumble upon such posts and because they don’t know about the subject they can believe fake news.
