She spoke about love and how heroic choosing to love something or someone can be and we are not taught that. She spoke about how love and caring go in partnership and how vital it is for our children to receive care. In the craziness of today's classrooms worryingly, do teachers have time to care for each individual child? So for students to want to independently learn, there needs to be a passion or a love for something, linking back with when Bell Hooks explained that children need care and love to move forward in education. 
Chomsky talks about 2 types of education: traditional; related to the enlightenment, to reach the highest goal and to create and inquire, your the learner so it's upto you what you master. The students being an empty account and the teachers simply filling the accounts with knowledge. Now the knowledge from the teacher is set by the government, known as the National Curriculum. I once read an article by a teacher and she described teaching as 'vessel filling' that we fill the pupils vessels with as much information as we can. The teacher said she watched as each child's light bulb simply 'dulled' as the vessel filling process progressed throughout the year. I was first engaged with Zadie when she spoke about middle class black students and how literature is limited. My favorite part of the interview was when she spoke about creativity and the impact on music that middle class black people have had: hip-hop, rap, rock, amazing amounts of creativity, but it does not show when it comes to writers in the UK. She said for good literature, good schooling is necessary, is the Education in Britain rigged? This shocked me at first but in recent research of 'white curriculum' I am starting to believe education may be 'rigged'. Where do the working class writers go?
Diane Reay and Nicola Ingram stated that they believe the education system is failing students studying in higher education from a middle class background, that they are simply outsiders on the inside and that the system masked these problems. Non-dropout failures? 
I personally agree with both, the more 'upper class' you are, you are born into a fantastic pathway of education, however I also believe that middle class people can achieve their goals, anyone can, if they work hard.

The 'habitus' is not fixed or permanent it is made up of our resources or experiences to carry us to our Capital. The Capital which extends 'beyond the notion of material assets to capital that may be social, cultural or symbolic' (Bourdieu 1986: cited in Navarro 2006: 16). Then this takes us to the set of rules 'doxa' that must be followed in each field. Bourdieu suggests that social class consists of three contributors: economic capital, social capital and cultural capital.
Social class is a way of breaking down society hierarchy, so we can compare the power of an individual or group compared to another individual or group. Class has taken many different forms, 'lower class, middle class, working class, higher class'. Even schooling has set it self into a class, you have your under achieving schools, your good and outstanding schools and your private schools. Class can also be inherited, allowing acceptance into each capital through an advantage in the social class. 
We learn what class we are meant to be in, or what we think we are? Still the question, What is Alternative Education? I am still working that out however this week in practice, things have started to form a pattern.
For example the lesson I cover every week in PSHE:
 'SPRING 2: TRADE/FAIR TRADE' with sub topics:
> Rich and Poor
> What is fair trade?
> Trade in the UK 
Now I read the topic over view and I just said to my teacher, how on earth can i teach this to a SEN year 6 class with a mixed ability from the sensory curriculum to KLIPS?
With her agreement I decided to change the initial idea and put my own take on the curriculum to suit my class. I do not have the potestas to change the whole curriculum but with the potentia I came up with a new idea. We would focus on rich and poor and how we can help the poor. Why should I force TRADE IN THE UK on a class who struggle to read and write? Instead we devised a plan to raise money for charity. The pupils were in charge of the whole project, planning, promoting, fund raising and this week they raised over £80 for North West Air Ambulance. 
For me this is alternative education, teaching children to be decent human beings and doing something for someone else.
