IOS will release an update every year for example ios 9 to ios 10 but ever single month they will release ios 10.1 or ios 10.2 etc to fix up bugs and errors with the new software that they have released

If you want to update to the latest firmware you can do this via the settings menu and update it then wait whilst the phone installs it or you can plug your phone into the computer and load the software on the PC and transfer it over to the phone by using Itunes.

Initiating the Installation from a Bootable CD-ROM
Using a bootable CD-ROM is the simplest and fastest method of installing Windows 2000. To ensure that the machine is not compromised during setup, however, it is highly recommended that it be disconnected from the network until setup is complete and the most recent service pack is installed.
Start Setup from a bootable CD-ROM as follows:
  1. Insert the CD-ROM in the drive.
  2. Restart the computer and wait for Setup to display a dialog box. On many computers you will be required to press any key during the boot process to boot from a CD-ROM.
  3. Follow the Setup instructions on the screen.
