The U.S coast guard works on the ground and the air and in the Sea. They are used for rescue missions, to catch people who are using drugs and other bad stuff. They are also used to protect bases that are near water. Mainly used for special missions they do rescue people who get lost in the ocean. The U.S coast guard is mainly used in Hawaii. Hawaii has a really strong current so when someone goes into the ocean they are meant to get lost at sea.

Summary
In my article it shows how the mud slides are damaging homes and trees causing the taxes to go higher because the government needs to pay for all the damage. The mud slides ruined most of parts that were close to the beach. Like Montecito, El Captain State beach, and Carpinteria. The beaches were hit badly so cars were flooded in deep water. All of those beaches are mostly destroyed and the water is really shallow. Now people are realizing. Sited sources from Newsela.

People had to prepare for the hurricane and when it hit them it fled their homes. The people had to create an escape plan for their pets. Once the hurricane hits them, the number of pets that were lost goes up by a lot. They get lost by getting scared and running away, getting left behind when the owners leave, they sometimes hide, crawl into little spaces when the owners can't find or reach them. This is why we need to be more careful with our pets.

The Newsela article, "Natural Disasters take an economic and environmental toll on Big Sur" is all about a landslide that hit a very scenic place called the Big Sur. One main point in the article is about how much money was lost from the Big Sur business. This is a really important point in this text because it shows not only about the impact on the Big Sur but also about the impact on the people from the massive landslide. Another main point in the text is when it shows how big the actual landslide was. This is important to the text because it's an important factor that must be taken into consideration.

Even kids can have a role in helping after natural disasters - Summary

The Newsela article, "Even kids can have a role in helping after natural disasters" talks about how small people can contribute to make a big impact. For example, in the text it says, " 'We often discuss the concept of 'greater good' and how one single person can change a life," says Arianna's mom, Anastasia Cope." This shows that even little kids can make a big impact and give to people who actually need items that they cannot survive without. Another example is what kids can do to help people and/or places that need items. For instance, in the text it explains how kids can donate food, clothing, shoes, money, etc. to charities which go for a good cause. It also talks about some specific kids that did remarkable things such as adopting schools to help them have good school supplies if they don't have them (if they got ruined or destroyed in a natural disaster). This shows that even kids can play a big part in helping after natural disasters.
