Maria Montessori was an Italian physician, educator, and innovator. She was born in 1870, in Chiaravalle, Italy.
She graduated with high honors from the medical school of the University of Rome in 1896 and became the first female doctor in Italy. As a doctor, she chose pediatrics and psychiatry as her specialties.
She was extremely interested in early childhood development and education. In 1907 Montessori was in charge of a school called 'Casa dei Bambini' and there Montessori created the "prepared learning" environment she believed was conductive to sense learning and creative exploration. Teachers were encouraged to stand back and "follow the child"—that is, to let children's natural interests take the lead.
Her writings further served to spread her ideology throughout Europe and the United States and by 1925 more than 1,000 of her schools had opened in America.
She died in 1952 in the Netherlands.
I am inspired by Montessori's life because she gave dignity to the teaching profession, creating a new role for teachers as real educators and not as simple 'knowledge-transmitters'. She lived in a patriarchal society, but -through devotion and application- she succeeded in creating something new. She invested in a field which was not considered profitable, such as education, and she had a great success: her teaching methods are still considered innovative and effective. Her life shows how education is important to change the society: no matter where you live, if you educate yourself, you can make the difference. As she used to say "Early childhood education is the key to the betterment of society."
With her example and legacy, she promoted the right to free education for everyone, as a matter of fact, she worked with disabled and poor children, granting them a better future.
Being a teacher, she represents a model for me and I hope I can share her passion, proficiency and creativity in the teaching profession.
Here's attached a video about what today is known as "the Montessori method" which promotes children's independence and engages all their senses, respecting their timing and interests. Teachers have to step back and facilitate children natural aptitude to learning. I chose this video because it is well done, simple and short. Thanks to the animation we can see what a Montessori class looks like.

Liliana Segre today is a senator and witness, but her past tells much more.
She borned in a jewish family and she faced the jewish persecution whit the racial laws in Italy .
On 30 january 1944 she was deported from platform 21 at the Auschwitz concentration camp and the travel lasted seven day.
She was forced into forced labor for about a year and during one of her selections she lost a friend that she met at the camp. Then she was freed on 1st may 1945 from Malchow camp.
She was recognized senator on 19th jenuary 2018 by the president of the republic.
I chose Liliana Segre because she is a symbol of the Second World War and when we read her book at school and studied her life I liked the courage with which she faced life in the concentration camp. Today he goes on to tell his story of school in school, you dare everyone to know what happened in the past and it doesn't happen anymore.
Liliana Segre is a guest of numerous meetings (especially on television) and some of her famous satins are remembered.
"Cultivating memory is still a precious vaccine against indifference and it helps us, in a world so full of injustice and suffering, to remember that each of us has a conscience and can use it".
This sentence by Liliana Segre is an incitement not to forget what happened during the Holocaust, but I was surprised from the fact that about 16% of Italians deny that the Holocaust is occurred.
At the beginning of the life of Liliana Segre she goes in concentration camp because to the jews were denied some rights, but then her imprisonment she tells her life to protect the rights.
To Liliana Segre i associate the articles number 2 and 4. Number 2 "do not discriminate" because she tells her life to understand that what happened must never happen again.
Number 4 "no slavery" because in her discoures she criticizes the slavery.

In the first part of the video Liliana Segre exalts indifference by saying that it is the easiest way and gives the example of a car accident, in which most of the cars do not stop remaining "indifferent" before the accident. In the second part of the video he tells why he tells the boys about the Holocaust even after eighty years.
In the end, in the third part of the video, she says that mentioning the name of her friend Janine in all her interviews because she reproaches herself for having been cowardly and not helping her.
I chose this video because the themes present are those present in the memory of those who remain who dealt with the Holocaust.

Federica Pellegrini is an italian freestyle swimmer, she is the world record-scoring 200 m and European 400 m.
She was born on August 5, 1988 in Mirano,she's the daughter of a former swimming champion, it was her mother who started swimming as a newborn.
In 2002, at the age of 14, he competed for the first time at the Italian Absolute Championships, where she won a bronze medal. She made her senior international debut in 2004. Despite the physical problems, and although journalists often give it to overcome considering her 31 years of age, in 2019 she remains the world record of 200 in the long tub.
I choose Federica Pellegini because swimming is my favourite sport and i would like swim more fast. she is also the symbol of a healthy life, of a competitive woman who is not afraid to confront herself and who never gives up.
She also used her notoriety for charitable ,she is a spokesperson for ADMO and in 2007 she typed herself to give availability to donate bone marrow.
I know her story seen her competion on TV, her interviews.
One of her phrases that I share is "Freedom is a fundamental value. As soon as I feel compelled, I rebel and do the opposite."I feel like her too, today it is important to defend freedom because it seems that in the world there is a lot of it, in truth this right is often trampled on, because we live in a very social world that in a moment judges everything and everyone: how you dress who you meet, what you do, how you speak...
To Federica Pellegrini i associate the article number 13 "personal freedom is inviolable" because too often journalists have violated her privacy by also writing offensive or defamatory articles, but her life is an example of protection of these rights, because Federica knows how to protect herself and is a woman with a strong character.
Here's attached a photo when she won the gold medal in the 2017 Swimming World Championships, in the 200 sl at almost 29 years: on his face I see the wrinkles of age, but also all his tenacity and pride for this umpteenth victory, this photo tell me "never give up"!

Malala was born in 1997. She was happy as a child and went to his father’s school. Then the Taliban seized power and they wanted to take away her right to study at 11 years she challenged the Taliban whit a famous speech, she asked: “how they can take away my right to education?” she begin to collaborates with the BBC, she dochimented the condition of the woman. When she was discovered the blog was deleted. In 2011 wins the international children’s peace prize. When she was 15 the Taliban shot her in the head, but she don’t died. In 2013 she back to school. When she was 16 gives a speech to the ONU on the right to study. In 2014, when she was 17, wins the nobel prize. When she was 18 open a school in Lebanon for Syrian refugees. Now she is a messanger of peace.

I chosen Malala because she has continued her protest after the attak by taliban too and because she ripresent the school right because the taliban negate this right at the women.

Bebe Vio is an Italian Paralympic fencer, she was born on March 4, 1997 in Venice, at the age of five she started practicing fencing but in November 2008 Bebe Vio was suddenly hospitalized, to save her the doctors amputated her legs and arms. When she is discharged, she starts attending school and fencing again. In 2012 and 2013 he won first place at the Italian individual fioreyyo championships and twice went on the podium in the world cup, made second in the under 17 World Championships held in Warsaw, in 2014 he won the European Championship and the year after the World Championships in Hungary. In 2016 he participated in the Paralympic games in Rio and won the gold medal, in 2017 he received the Laureus Award, in November of the same year he won the world championship for the second time.

I heard about Bebe Vio right at the Rio Olympics while watching all the tests at the Olympics, I think that her life is an inspiration for all people since she has managed to continue a normal life that without arts I think is source of inspiration for all people considering his willpower. Her life can be associated with human law which says that everyone is equal and she represents an example of these rights given that she has always managed to be respected by everyone and lead a normal life.

Giovanna d’Arco is one of the most important woman in the world. She was born on january 6 in 1412, in France, from a poor family. In 1429, convinced that she had been chosen by God to save the France, Giovanna D'Arco, a girl with seventeen years old, she goes to the court of Carlo VII, and she ask him to be able to command the army headed to Orleance. Carlo VII accepted and, between May and July she freed the city. Next she was accused to heresy and she was sentenced to the stake.I choose her because I like her history and I think that her actions can inspire a lot of people. I know her last school year, when in history we have done the hundred years war and we talk about her, and her hero and what she did and the result. I think that can convey a positive message to everyone : we are all equal and that even a woman can have a role almost always attributed to a man and she also can be better. I think that this phrase from Giovanna d’Arco is very beautiful and significant : “Every man gives his life for what he believes. Every woman lays down her life for what she believes in. Often people believe in little or nothing and yet give their life to that little or nothing”. This phrase makes you undestand that we are egual, everyvhere and in everythink, if she can command the army, other girls can do this and other, and other man can do something usually do a woman. Her life represented ( at first ) protected right, next, her rights were denied, so I don’t know really if her life represented some protect or denied rights example, but I belive that her rights were denied.

Katherine Johnson was a mathematician and computer scientist who worked for NASA, she was born on August 26, 1918, in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. She was a bright child with a gift for numbers, she breezed through her classes and completed the eighth grade by age 10. Although her town didn’t offer classes for African Americans after that point, her father, Joshua, drove the family 120 miles to Institute, West Virginia, where they lived while she attended high school. Katherine enrolled at West Virginia State College in Institute, West Virginia, where she encountered a hands-on faculty. One particularly engaged professor was Dr. William W. Schieffelin Claytor, the third African American to earn a Ph.D. in mathematics, who was determined to prepare Johnson to become a research mathematician. At age 18, she graduated summa cum laude with degrees in mathematics and French. After college, Johnson began teaching in elementary and high schools in Virginia and West Virginia. In 1953, she joined Langley Research Center as a research mathematician for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics. Katherine was assigned to the all-male flight research division. Her knowledge made her invaluable to her superiors and her assertiveness won her a spot in previously all-male meetings. NACA became the National Aeronautics and Space Administration in 1958. Upon leaving The Flight Mechanics Branch, Johnson went on to join the Spacecraft Controls Branch where she calculated the flight trajectory for Alan Shepard, the first American to go into space in 1959. Johnson also verified the mathematics behind John Glenn’s orbit around the Earth in 1962 and calculated the flight trajectory for Apollo 11’s flight to the moon in 1969. She retired from NASA in 1986. In 2015, President Barack Obama awarded Johnson the Presidential medal of freedom. In 2016, she was presented the Silver Snoopy Award by NASA astronaut Leland D. Melvin and a NASA Group Achievement Award. She was portrayed by Taraji P. Henson as a lead character in the 2016 film Hidden Figures (Diritto di Contare). In 2019, Johnson was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal. Unfortunately Katherine Johnson at the age of 101 passed away, she past away in February 24, 2020. I chose Katherine Johnson because she’s a strong lady and when I think of her I get hope. Because even though all the people that worked at NASA where men she was still inspired to do her work and did it the best she could. For me Katherine Johnson is more than just an idol and I look up towards her for all the things that she’s done to improve woman’s rights and to prove that women can do the same jobs as men. I chose to associate to Katherine Johnson the first human right which states that we are all born free and equal. We are all born free. We all have our own thoughts and ideas. We should all be treated in the same way. So I chose to associate this article to Katherine Johnson because we all have the right to be the same and because while Katherine was working she was discriminated and people didn’t think that she would be capable of doing this kind of job and they didn’t believe in her just because she was a woman but she proved them wrong. I chose this video because it represents what Katherine did for mankind and how she calculated the trajectory for Alan Shepard and what she did for NASA and for the United States of America.

In Calcutta she opened the Nirmal Hriday, the "house of the dying", one of her best-known achievements.In February 1965, Pope Paul VI granted the Missionaries of Charity the title of "congregation of pontifical right" and the possibility of expanding also outside of India: On July 26, the first congregation house outside India was opened in Cocorote, Venezuela, on 8 December 1967 was open a center in Colombo (Sri Lanka), Then it was the turn of the offices in Africa, America, Asia and Europe in the seventies, eighties and nineties. In 1971 Paul VI awarded her the prize for peace and later received the prize for humanity and brotherhood. In 1979 Mother Teresa obtained the Nobel Peace Prize but she refused the conventional ceremonial banquet for the winners, and asked that the $ 6,000 of funds be allocated to the poor of Calcutta. She graduated in medicine at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart. After her death, Mother Teresa's work was recognized, especially in the countries where she worked. Her life is a source of inspiration because she has devoted herself completely to the needs of poor, marginalized and leprosy patients. Through her actions, she wanted to spread love to everyone. Maria Sklodowska Curie, born in Warsaw in 1867, was one of the most important scientists of the nineteen century.

Marie was very gifted for science, but in Russian Poland women were unable to continue their studies, so in 1891 she moved to Paris where, with great sacrifice and effort, she graduated in physics in 1893, first of her course.

She then began her research on chemical elements together with Pierre Curie, who later became her husband in 1895.

In 1903 the Curie spouses won the Nobel Prize in physics for their studies on radiation.

After Pierre's death in 1906 Marie obtained the chair of Physics in Paris, the first woman to teach at the Sorbonne University.

In 1911 she won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the discovery of Radio and Polonium, new chemical elements.

In 1914 she participated in the First World War as a doctor at the front and established the first mobile radiology centers.

She died in 1934 from radiation to which her body had been exposed during her studies.

I heard about her studying history and on television and I was struck by her deep passion for science, her determination that led her to abandon her home country and choose a life dedicated to discovering new substances.

This is well explained by her sentence: “Attention is never paid to what has been done; you only see what remains to be done. " which explains how passionate and dedicated she was to research.

Her life shows that obstacles and discrimination can be overcome with willpower: she left a country that did not allow her to study to carry on her aspiration for research; but even in her adoptive homeland she found it difficult to obtain what she deserved because of her condition as a woman and a foreigner. In fact, she was unable to enter the Academy of Sciences because of a series of accusations including that of adultery.

    Rosa Louise McCauley Parks was born on February 4, 1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama, in the United States, and died on October 24, 2005 at 92 years of age. Rosa Parks is one of the most famous people in the history of the American civil rights movement. On December 1, 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama, after a long day of work in a department store, where he worked as a seamstress, he got on the bus on Cleveland Avenue to go home, on the bus the whites sat in front while the blacks at the bottom . During the trip, Rosa refused to give way to a white man and since she had had enough of being treated as a second class, she was arrested. I know Rosa Parks from an article that I read in my Italian book and I found her story very interesting because it is an excellent example. Everyone should have the same rights in this world, poor or rich, white and black. Rosa Parks was not a leader of the civil rights movement, but a seamstress, yet with the gesture of refusal, she suddenly turned her into a black rights hero, engaged in the fight against segregation, becoming a symbol for blacks in America.

My mum’s name is Eleonora, is forty years old and was born on 20th November 1979 in Bergamo, she is a seamstress, works in a laboratory where shirts are made for cyclist. I think one of the main events in her life is first get married to her husbnd,my father, and the other to give birth me and my brother. I think her life is an inspiration for me because she works constntly from morning to late afternoon, and despite the tiredness every evening she goes home to her family, and she cooks,washes,irons, and tries to be the best mother that there may be. With this, she conveyes to me a message of true love that she has for her family, and that she has never tired of doing what makes you happy with the people that you love. Besides, the thing that struck me most was that she never gave up. She usually say this proverb: before duty and after pleasure. And this thaught me that first you have to do the duty,even it’s unbearable, and then you can enjoy the pleasure. Luckily my mum as well as the whole family have a great protection on human right and in her life had them all, apart from one, whuch did not come to an end, or the right to education,because my mother is only 14 years old she went to work, and did not continue with her studies. Though, in those times, it was not mandatory to attend high school. I put a picture of the proverb that my mum always says because it describes my mum’s personality.

there are a lot of women who deserve our attention and i think simona atzori is one of them.
Simona Atzori is an italian artist and dancer who was born in milan on june 18 1974. Since the age of four painting and dancing have been her two passions but to prevent her from practicing them was the lack of her upper limbs because she was born without her arms.
she rejected prosthetic arms as she found them very heavy and impractical so she decided to use her feet, which would be much easier.
in 1986 she studied visual arts at the university of westerm ontario in canada and this enabled her to combine the two passions of her life.
she has also won many awards such as michelangelo’s for dancing in 2000 and angelo d’arrigo in 2007 and the world toyp award in 2009. i have chosen her because she is an inspiration for those people who dwell on the slightest problems. on the contrary despite her disability she made her two dreams come true.
i have chosen her because some people underestimate women by giving them names that are not pleasant.
once she said two sentences that struck me most “i would like everyone to consider me for who i am and that i have not for what they think i haven’t got” and “i have always believed that god wanted me like this not by mistake” this woman has very important rights such as dignity and self-respect, some people might deride her for her patology.

In 1922 a little girl named Margherita Hack was born in Florence who would grow up to be an astrophysicist , a scientist who studies the stars and planets. I discovered this character by reading his story in a book along with other stories of extraordinary women. It immediately struck me a lot because space has always intrigued me since i was a child. While studing physics , Margherita was increasingly interested in the stars; his favourite place was the observatory the skies through a telescope and asked himself many questions: How many stars are there? , What are galaxies?. He traveled all over the world, gave many conferences on the stars. Back in Florence, she became the first italian woman to direct an astronomical observatory. Her best friends were stars; Eta Boo , Zeta Her.... an asteroid si named after her ! Margherita based her knowledge of the world on facts, on experiments and observations, but there was always curiosity about the mystery of life. I was very impressed by his interest in the stars, his studies and his ability to respect the religious question. She was known for her social and political commitment and fought for citizens’ rights. Another right linked to Margherita is the right to study and research.
I often look the sky and there are some beautifull Margherita Hack’s words that I like very much: the stars are not very different to us; they are born, grow and die”.

Rita Levi Montalcini was born in Turin on April 22 1909 and died in Rome on December 30 2012 at the age of 103.
In 1936 he graduated from the University of Turin in medicine and surgery. Born of a Jewish family, daughter of Adamo Levi (electronic engineer and mathematician) and Adele Montalcini (painter); due to racial laws she was forced to emigrate to Belgium.
In 1986 she won the nobel prize for medicine and in 2001 she was nominated senator for life. Her life has been characterized by numerous scientific studies that have also brought her to America.
Rita Levi Montalcini is an example of a tenacious woman who never gave up, dedicating her whole life to studies and research, in fact she never married and had no children.
Despite the disparities between men and women, she fought and showed that the female intellectual abilities are equal to the male ones.

"Humanity is made up of men and women and must be represented by both sexes"

Rita Levi Montalcini has also formed an ONLUS that promotes the schooling of African girls and young women; in fact a quote from him says:

"if you educate a child, you will have an educated man. If you educate a woman you will have a woman, a family and an educated society."

Precisely because of her determination to assert women's rights, I admire her very much.

Sofia Granata-Margaret Thatcher

Margaret was born in Grantham on october 13th 1925, and died in London on April 8th 2013 at the age 87. She was also know as the Iron Lady. It was a British policy but initially she was a chemistry researcher, them became a lawyer and in 1975 she became the first woman to became UK Prime Minister. I decided to choose her because she managed to get there first, high in the political camp, and this was not possible in those year. It certainly wasn’t going to be easy but i take Margaret as an example and i admire her for courage and her determination to achieve her goals even if it’s difficult. In my opinion Margaret represent the right to equality, which is now more respected than before, but even today there are cases of inequality. There are many womens who inspired me and one of them is Laura Seghettini, born on January 22, 1922 and died on July 10, 2017. She was a partisan of the Italian Resistance and deputy commissioner of the 12th Garibaldi Brigade 'Fermo Ognibene'. Laura was a teacher who chose not to live the war passively, but to take part in it personally, risking everything.
In 1943 she decided to join the partisan brigade. This choice will be very important in her life, as will her uninterrupted communist political militancy. During the months of war, Laura carries out very delicate and complex tasks. In 1944 she was appointed deputy brigade commissioner, a position usually assigned to men. She has to fight also in Lunigiana, where the clashes become more bloody every day.
I know her because one day my grandmother told me about she and I was really impressed by the way she dealt with the events she went against, she managed to assert herself for her courage and her determination.
She is known as the companion of Dante Castellucci, called "Facio"; he was shot but, despite this, Laura managed to keep going and think positive even in the tragic situations.
To her I associate the right number 19: "everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression", because Laura, despite being a woman, has carried out tasks usually entrusted to men successfully. She therefore managed to achieve her goals. Laura Seghettini also wrote a book "Al vento del Nord".
It is a figure that pushes me to go on, to try to achieve my goals by doing my best, remembering the teachings and the positive sides of experience.

Josephine left her family when she was 13 and later she was able to attend the Boxer Washington Theatre shows, where her love for the dance grew up. One day the theatre's director allowed her to try singing and that is how Josephine began her career in St. Louis theatres. On October 2 1925 Baker came to Europe and she became Champs-Elysees theatre's first woman. When the Second World War began Josephine became an espionage agent in the service of free france. When the conflict ended Baker adopted children of different ethnic backgrounds (The rainbow family). During the 1963 March on Washington Josephine was the only woman to speak. She died on April 12 1975 in Paris. Josephine Baker was a very strong woman: I chose her because i wanted to talk about something different and share this incredible story with other people. If i had to associate this woman with a human right it would be the right to personal freedom because in her childhood she was a slave and, after a few years, she became a world symbol of emancipation.

it is thanks to her if women can vote and for this I associate Emily Devinson with the right to vote, because all women must have the same rights as a man.
