The Dust Bowl was a series of dust storms during 1930 through 1936. the main reasons for these storms was long lasting drought, The great Depression, and bad farming techniques. The combination of these 3 things created very dry soil that was easily eroded by strong winds. When the wind picked up large amounts of dry soil it created huge dust storms that was detrimental to the environment and the economy.

The biggest effects of the Dust Bowl was the reduction of agriculture due to the large amounts of sail being eroded, along with the already poor economy due to the great depression the Dust Bowl only furthered the unemployment since farmers production slowed significantly.

These solutions and programs put in place have a lot in common with ecocentric and anthropocentric ideas by making a priority to preserve the soil and the need for farming jobs for some people to survive and keep the economy booming.

Recently in 2020 there was another massive dust storm in the great plains. The issues that were connected to being the cause of this dust storm was the lack of proper soil conservation. Just like the Dust Bowl there were major droughts in the area along with strong winds which caused the dust storm. This event proves that we still have many things to learn from the Dust Bowl disaster to prevent more negative effects on the environment.
