We are all going through something right now, whether that be the virus or Pridefall or the BLM movement. But some people are are being effected so much more deeply than I am and for that I am privileged. What I have learned is that part of being an ally, or even just a decent friend, is putting aside you preoccupation with your own struggles to make sure that the ones who are hurting have a space to feel safe and comfortable relieving stress. But it's also important to acknowledge that sometimes being white means that you are not the safest space because you simply can not empathize.
