1. Pershing was very loyal to the president and wanted to make sure that his orders were upheld no matter what.
2. He was very devoted to his troops.
3. Pershing knew that he was unable to command so many troops and instead of them not getting the supplies they needed, he cut them in half and set two other officers to command them.
4. He knew that by keeping the AEF a separate force, it would help keep the American identity.

1. Pershing was so determined to uphold the presidents orders to make sure the AEF stood out as a independent unit, that he missed the opportunities for his men to learn new skills vital to the new way the world fought.
2. Due to making the AEF independent, Pershing hesitated to send help to allies who desperatly needed it.
3. Had a lot of green men under him that did not have the proper training yet were sent to the front lines to fight.
4. Pershing was very hard headed and wanted things done a certain way. He believed that the allies were fighting the war incorrectly.

Pershing was able to win in the end. He became a 4 star General and won the affection of the President of the united states. He did what he was told, and although the war was being fought differently than when he was first inducted into the army he knew that change was imminent and that there was nothing he could do about it but to change with it.

Why studying leaders is importatnt today

Studying such leaders as Pershing are important today so that we see how military advancements can help or hinder the best of commanders. A commander was no longer expected to be on the front line with his men, but rather to be more like a business man who led from a distance.

Pershing was very loyal. Sometimes his loyalty came at a price, especially when the allies needed him the most. He was not one who grew up in the most modern fighting techniques of the time, but soon learned that a change was needed and that by using his old ways, he was becoming more of a hindrance.

From John Terry: Brandi, I thought it was greqat that you did the verbal introduction to your Padlet and provided the information required. Your Padlet looks to be informative and seem to address all of the different areas requested for this weeks assignment. I haven't been able to make a comment on any of the fields though. It may be that I haven't quite figured this whole thing out, or it may be that your privacy settings just aren't allowing it.
