1. What are your perceptions on the Use of Blogs for EFL Learning?

Students who are learning English as a Foreign Language have come up with mixed feelings about how they perceive that blogs have helped their learning process. It is agreed in general that it helps students increase their literacy skills. Based on the research, they found that some of the positive aspects were that it was easy to use, promotes natural reading and writing scenarios for your students, and motivate interaction and collaboration with multiple audiences at the same time. This allows students to get immediate feedback and interaction in an easy way, while constantly practicing their reading and writing skills. On the other hand, there are some negative perceptions of the use of blog; the main one being that blogs are not a well-known tool, hence many students did not interact as much as they should have. At the same time

In my personal opinion, I believe it’s a tool that allows students to communicate asynchronously and at the same time, through a digital tool, practice skills in a natural way. It takes off your mind the task at hand and naturally allows students to focus on using reading and writing to communicate.

2. Which ones are the alternatives in ELT methodology?

There are many alternatives in today’s digital world to implement in ELT methodology, and these only continue to expand. At the end of the day these alternatives are transferring skills from the face-to-face classroom environment to the online and web-based resources. Teachers in many subject areas, not just ELT, are using technology to alternately offer similar skill-based tasks that promote creativity, collaborative activities, critical thinking and inquiry-based tasks. One of these alternative methods is WebQuests, they allow teachers to offer students inquiry-based tasks that require students to focus on web-based tools to accomplish the set goals.

3. What are the students’ perceptions of integrating Wiki technology and peer feedback into English writing courses?

A wiki has generated on online space that allows students to collaboratively edit web content, all while promoting peer revision and feedback. Most students welcome the idea of wikis in their learning process, because when learning online it is a way to create a social activity that involves collaborative tasks. This being said there are some concerns, but most come back to the main idea that wikis offer a meaningful alternative for students to use their English and continue learning. The peer feedback process also gives value to the process because it is the reason why students interact naturally and in a meaningful way on wikis.

4. How can we integrate critical Approach to Second Language Learning?

As language teachers we are the first ones who must recognize the ever-changing nature of any language, therefore we must transfer critical thinking skills to our students that allow them to recognize language at any moment in time. This requires teachers and students alike to realize the importance of understanding language in context and deciphering it when necessary. Students should be able to analyze a text, a speech or any other segment of language and identify the author’s voice and point of view to truly apply their critical thinking skills.
