1. The first painting shows Napoleon as strong, brave, and elevated. He is confident in his inevitable defeat of his opposition, and is clothed opulently, signifying his wealth and prestige. Furthermore, the war in the background supports his image of a successful general.
2. In this painting, Napoleon is helping crying children and families to escape a flood. He is in his military clothing, and is acting the savior for all.
3. I feel the third is the most convincing form of propaganda. Napoleon is on an elaborate chariot with a grand procession around him. He is surrounded by the splendor of France, demonstrating the prosperity of France under his rule. The painting depicts the scene in a classical setting, relating France's success to the victories of the early Greeks and Romans. Additionally, the people around him are content and satisfied. The children are joyful and the women calm.
5. As emperor, Napoleon needed the complete support of his subjects in order to exercise his power everywhere.

Propaganda #1: In this picture, it displays power because of Napoleon's clothes and his big horse compared to the smaller soldiers in the background. Everyone else is walking which also shows that he has power over everyone on his horse.
Propaganda #2: This shows that he is helping the children and parents on a rescue boat in the water. It shows his caring side for the people of France, and that he is a good person.
Propaganda #3: This one also shows that he has power on his chariot with all people following him. It's almost god-like because of the angels in front.

1. I think the the third painting is the most convincing of the rest. This is because it shows him on a Godly level through art, and that everyone is following him because he is a big leader.
2. I think that the French Revolution was the first time for propaganda because it was help to convince sides whether one leader was better than the other. Also, at the time, lots of opinions were forming because of how much Napoleon affected places in negative and positive ways which was to help a country win over majority of their people.

1.
     a. Napoleon is on a strong horse and is pointing up as if to say let's go. And also to symbolize that they are going to rise above this war just like all the rest. His name is on the stone beneath him almost as if to say that he is stone-like (sturdy?).
     b. The woman is holding her hands up reaching for the French soldier. All the children look sad and in bad shape. The other soldier is holding the boat and letting the man off as if to say that going into the military will bring him better living conditions.
c. The people are all dressed god-like and look pretty victorious to me. Napoleon is in the middle of the chariot as if to portray that he is the hero. Most of the people around him are women.
2. I think the first one. Napoleon is strong and it only shows strength. Or the second because it shows that the people will be helped if they join the army and that soldiers are good.
3. I believe that this was the first time propaganda was used on a widespread scale because first, in France, it was the first time Napoleon was struggling and second, in the rest of the world, they finally had a chance and wanted everyone to be on the same side so they could beat France.

1. He looks like he's leading. He also looks very unbothered. It says "Bonaparte" on the stone ground. He has a fancy cape that makes him look majestic.
2. He looks like he's heroically saving suffering women and children? A woman looks like she's in incredible agony. He's out actually in the action saving people?? Honestly I don't really understand what is happening.
3. He looks very godlike, considering there are literal angels riding in his chariot as well as cherubs nearby. He looks like a Greek/Roman god.
4.
    a. Probably the last one because he looks very intimidating and holy.
    b. I think the reason it showed up more then is because they needed to convince a vast majority of people to support him/to continue supporting him as well as to intimidate their enemies .

The people are in misery, and are scared while Napoleon are helping them. Napoleon is the only soldier on the boat.
3. Napoleon is so powerful that angels guide his chariot and women surround his chariot. He appears godlike.
Questions
1.I would say that the Triumph of Bonaparte is the best form of propaganda for he appears godlike and angels and women surround him showing amazing power.
2. Because of how famous it was around the country, and how many people it affected.

The first image is pretty convinving because Napolen looks very owerful and calm even though the horse he is riding looks wild and like its going crazy but Napolean has power over the horse in the picture. And he is on top of a mountain which represents power as well.

2. It was probably during this time so that they could convince people that he is a better leader.

1. It's trying to portray Napoleon as a strong and sound leader. It shows that he is so strong, that he can hold onto a raging horse with one hand. He is also portrayed as very well clothed; upperclass.
2. This image is trying to show that Napoleon is "a man of the people." It's trying to convince people that he is a good and caring person; he's trying to save a child from drowning in a flood.
3. This last image shows Napoleon to be a near god. He looks like a Roman Emperor; showing him to be very strong and a good leader. He's even wearing the laurel that was used to crown Caesar.
4. I think that the last painting is the most convincing form of propaganda because it shows Napoleon with his people. It portrays his prestige as a leader and his importance to his people.
5. Because it was a revolution of the people, the people needed to be solidly convinced of what side they supported. Other, previous wars didn't really include the people fighting for their rights. This was one of the first times that people really needed to be convinced of something and not just mindlessly following orders.

Looks like a sad picture of people some form of a raft. They look like they are sufferining and questioning life. In the picture, Napoleon is shown helping them through their misery.

3. In this picture, Napoleon resembles a God on a chariot guided by angels.

1. This image is propaganda because Napoleon and his horse are the focus of the picture and are brighter and more colorful than the rest of the picture. They are shown to be powerful and great.
2. This image is propaganda because all the people are shown to be miserable. This image is trying to persuade people to see this event as miserable and sad.
3. I think this is propaganda because the people look like gods or angels.
4. 1. I consider the second image the most convincing piece of propaganda because it is directed at your emotions and makes you feel sad when you see it.

1. Larger than life, painted bigger than everything else in the scene. He seems to be leading troops across the dangerous mountains with one hand pointing down the right path. This may symbolize that Napoleon is leading France to the"right" place.
2. He is helping women and children in a boat cross a river through the city. This may symbolize Napoleon keeping people safe and helping them in their dangerous towns.
3.This picture looks much more fantastical than the others. He is in a horse drawn chariot surrounded by what looks like angels and cherubs. This may be trying to push the idea that France and it's people are holy, and Napoleon is their godly protector and king.
The best example of propaganda in my opinion is the first painting. It shows Napoleon as bigger and more important than everyone/everything else. He looks triumphant and powerful, which changes the people's opinion of Napoleon and the war. I believe the reason propaganda was used so frequently in the French revolution was to keep the people happy. Napoleon knew that without the people behind him, his efforts would fail. So he used the propaganda to get the people in his corner and ensure his success.
