The reason I chose this program was initially because I was curious about how young children's education differs from school education. I was also impressed by the fact that the ethical, emotional and social experiences of childhood affect the future of children. In addition, I applied for this program because I wanted to learn about children's imagination and curiosity.

During my college program, I completed my placements with three preschoolers from Mulberry Bush day care Centre, Chelsea Green Children's Centre and Kid Zone Day Care Cemtre. These were great and fun. The size of the centres were very different, so I experienced differences in the range of play and activities, but each centre had its own unique characteristics.

I am so happy to have completed my last placement and gained confidence and experience as an educator. I am looking forward to another exciting experience.

Reflection:

I learned about various ways to help with emotional, language, physical and cognitive development. I got from many courses what kind of development I intended from the activities I planned through ELECT documents for children of different ages.

I used a book with four emotions to help them develop emotionally and spent time with the children in a group setting learning about the emotions of 'happiness, anger, sadness and fear' through activities. I also planned and presented activities for children aged 6-12 for physical development and expected to improve the children's physical development through games and activities that can use both fine and gross muscles together.

Reflection:

I created an activity based on a kindergarten child and demonstrated it to my colleagues in the classroom. I planned to provide an opportunity to learn the names and colors of natural objects that can be seen in the fall using various loose parts. As you can see in the following artifacts, I created a step-by-step curriculum for the children to learn about 'our body' using the project technique. The project technique is an activity that involves working with children on one topic for a long period of time. I also learned how to write a formal letter to send to my family by writing a letter saying that I am going on a field trip.

Reflection:

In order to become a responsive teacher, I met parents who send their children to daycare in the second semester and gained experience through ‘family interviews’. Since it was the first time I met them, I tried to create a friendly atmosphere and use calm and positive words. Based on this experience, I became an educator for the case in the third semester, and gained experience in providing feedback and observations on the child’s development and forming positive partnerships. Interviewing families is still difficult, but I think it went well for my first experience. Also, in the last placement, I wrote a letter about a child I had observed and paid attention to and sent it to the child’s family. There is a way to talk directly, but I wanted to try another way, so I sent it and received positive feedback from the family.

Reflection:

While I was making and planning a song about hand washing myself, I thought about how to show it to children so that it would be more beneficial and memorable. I made it using the melody of the most basic toon, 'Head, Shoulder, Knee, Foot, Knee, Foot'. Also, while planning the snacks and lunches that children eat at the center, I had time to learn about what should and should not be included, which was beneficial. I also thought about ways for children to regulate their emotions from the four emotion books, and realized the importance of recognizing 'emotions' through related other resources.

Reflection:

Among the many community resources, I learned about and presented on programs and campaigns that help children and families develop language and literacy skills through Tyke Talk. I also learned about the CCEYA Manual and said that the most interesting and important part was writing incident reports. With the current shortage of early childhood educators, I wrote an Elected Letter with my group, focusing on Ontario and comparing it to British Columbia, citing issues such as tuition and long study periods.

Reflection:

I researched Froebel's achievements and how he contributed to early childhood development. Among his achievements, I learned about a new educational tool called 'Froebel's Gift', and he was interested in children's experiential/social development. I also compared and presented the educational status of Finland and Canada, which have high educational support. Unlike Finland, which provides high-quality education to children based on professional knowledge and ethics, Canada emphasizes the role of teachers as supporters.
