J.K. Rowling had failed tremendously only seven years after graduating. She had been divorced, was jobless, a lone parent, and extremely poor. Sometime during these events, J.K. Rowling came to the conclusion that failure is a way of stripping away the inessential. She stopped trying to pretend to be anything than what she actually was, and put all of her energy into finishing the work that actually mattered to her. Failure taught her things she never would've known if she remained successful, such as a strong will and discipline, and she found close friends. This information can be used in just about anything in my classes. I will stop worrying about failing every single piece of work that I am given, and instead utilize those failures as stepping stones to my success.
J.K., R. (Director). (2011, July 20).

Jennifer Lopez has a very demanding work life. To deal with the stress she began meditating 20 minutes a day, morning and night. The use of meditation helps her stay focused in the midst of all the chaos to accomplish her goals. I will use the information provided to help me come up with my own method to practice mindfulness. Meditation could be a useful strategy for me because it will help me center my thoughts and give me motivation to always put my best effort in. Maybe if I have a week where I have a heavy workload for college, taking a minute to meditate will remind me that keeping up with my work will benefit me in the long run.

Cagle, J. (Director).

Lebron has great eating habits that set him up for success longterm. Lebron uses his metacognitive skills to come up with a method of what to eat to help him perform optimally in different situations. He eats a lot of protein and fruits for that energy that wont wear him down for morning shoot arounds. However, before a game Bron eats low fat proteins and more carbs. He then eats more fruit again at half time to give him more energy for the rest of the game. This information can be used when I have a workout schedule. I will be able to be aware of what and when I eat to be able to have a maximum gain workout. Practicing these matacognitive skills will help lead to success in reaching a goal set.
Points, C. (Director).

Nyle C- Applying past knowledge to new situations makes it easier to succeed in a new experience. In many situations you will need some prior knowledge to be able to do it. You have to be able to apply what you know, otherwise that information is useless.
Sianah - Listening and understanding with empathy is truly listening to another person and being able to hold back your own views or judgement. This is important for achieving success because you can gain lots of wisdom just from listening.
Ascd. (n.d.). Chapter 2. Describing the Habits of Mind.
