there are convection currents the tectonic plates of the earth move and our continent keeps moving very slowly and the plates rub against each other and and they move in different motions and with those motions there comes earth quakes . but the earth is moving apart but it is so small that we cant feel it and it would take many many years for our continents to move away . just like how our continents moved at the first place and over time they moved because of the tectonic plates

You could even tell by the picture in the book they looked as if they were connected one time.

The same bones of a cynognathus where also found in different places but there was a huge sea in the middle of the continents and that animal could have not swam that far. Also because the tectonic plates are constantly moving inside the Mantle.

Earth's plates are moving farther or closer to and from each other, which can cause earth quakes, mountains, even sometimes it makes mountains be taller and taller. The text says, "the almost-melted rock of the asthenosphere acts as a slippery surface on which plates can move.
My question is, how do we know all of this for sure?
