She learns more about herself and she ends up accepting herself because in the beginning of the story, she doesn't accept herself. This quote shows the crisis and climax of the story. This quote happens near the end of the story, when Millicent decides to not join the sorority. The crisis was Millicent choosing between joining the sorority and leaving behind her best friend. She decides at the climax of the story to not join the sorority. In the quote she explains she proved everybody wrong by surviving the initiation process, and then showing her own personal freedom and not joining at all.
