Originally started with general practice but eventually began to get interested into infectious disease that were plaguing Cuba at the time. Yellow Fever was his main focus, 1881 Dr. Carlos Finlay Advanced his theory. His theory was that Yellow Fever was transmitted by a specific species of mosquito named Aedes that was transmitted thought its bite. This did not go well and his colleagues ignored him and said he was wrong for 20 years. He was able to notice that yellow fever and Aedes coincided so he was able to get James Carroll (a former US Army soldier) to get bitten by a mosquito and ended up dying a few days latter proving Dr. Finlays theory correct.
