The Divine Comedy is, undoubtedly, the greatest work of Dante. It is considered the masterpiece of Italian literature and one of the masterpieces of universal literature.

In this poem, Dante the Pilgrim, travels through hell and purgatory to reach heaven. His trip aims to impress readers about the consequences of sin and the glory of heaven.

In the first section, known as The Hell of Dante, a guide leads Dante through the circles of hell, where he will witness the terrible punishments that sinners must endure because of their lives full of sin.

Purgatory is the second of the three songs of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy. The above is the hell and follows the paradise. Dante's purgatory is divided into Antepurgatorio, purgatory and terrestrial paradise. The moral structure of purgatory follows the Tomística classification of the vices of misguided love, and does not refer to specific faults. It is divided into seven turns, in which the seven deadly Sins are expiate: arrogance, envy, anger, laziness, greed, gluttony, lust.

Finally is the Paradise is an immaterial, ethereal world, divided into nine heavens. The first seven bear the name of celestial bodies of the solar system, which in their order are moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn. The last pair is made up of the fixed stars and the first mobile.

The shout
His most famous work, which is part of four frames or versions. this the most famous, of 1893, is located in the national gallery of Norway. In it appears a androgynous figure in the foreground, symbol of a deep anguish an existend despair. The shout is considerer a cultural icon.

Melancholia
This painting was painted in 1894. In the picture, we observe an individual in a thoughtful, reflective, melancholy state... A figure who shows up absent from everything around him as he thinks about his existence perhaps. All that surrounds the painting is marked by sobriety, darkness and loneliness, constant in the life of the painter.

Woman looking through the window
In this work the two extremes of sadness are counterposed: In the woman, the unpleasant surprise of the fateful event; In man, the painful assimilation of a reality that is not wanted, but must be, accepted. This is how the artist generates, in the same scene, the broader picture of the feeling: the first reaction that one has when dealing with pain as a blow and the gradual unraveling that it generates later, once it has to be accepted. This painting was created in 1892.
