**The Rehabilitation Act of 1975
--The purpose of this law is to protect a person with a disability from discrimination, from a business that receives federal financial assistance. The Rehab Act set the stage for assistive technology to be made available for children through Section 504. On page 7, it clearly states "they are entitled to educational accommodations so they will not be denied an education equal to that provided for their typical peers". Section 504, gave students an open opportunity to receive what was rightfully theirs, a proper education regardless of any disability. This guaranteed that if, assistive technology was necessary, the student would receive the assistive technology they needed in order to thrive academically like his or her peers.

Reference:
What is the Rehabilitation Act of 1973? | DO-IT.
