Her name was given to her because of a foreign exchange student from Denmark that I grew close to. Her first couple of weeks in America weren’t the best, but she pushed herself through it. Not only was she one of my best friends, she was like a sister I never had. Her personality lit up the room. When I finally talked my parents into getting a puppy, I knew I had to name her Sine. I knew that Sine (the person) had to leave me eventually, but now I had a small piece of her always with me. Fun fact: we’re 10 years apart. There are pros and cons about having a sibling 10 years older. A pro: I basically grew up an only child. Con: I was basically an only child. Shortly after he graduated high school in 2010, he moved into his dorm at Ferris State University. Due to the huge gap, he’s more like a third parent. I wouldn’t be where I am now without my family.
