         <title>HOW SOCIAL MEDIA IS USED FOR MARKETING PURPOSES?  Marketing is the process of endorsing, buying and selling of goods and services. Marketing is one of the principal components of business management. Through this process, goods move from concept to the customer. People who work in marketing departments of companies try to get the attention of target audiences by using slogans, packaging designs, celebrity promotions and social media sites.Of all these, social media marketing is gaining immense popularity nowadays. Social media platforms are being highly used for advertising, selling and delivering products and services to the target customers. Most of the social media platforms have built-in-tools which help the companies to track the shipment, track successful delivery of the goods etc. The major advantage of marketing through social media is that it involves minimal cost or no cost. Anyone who desires of making money can create pages or blogs or channels on different social media platforms and can easily reach the prospective buyers. Most commonly used social media platforms are Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, Snapchat, etc. All you need to do is download a app according to your own preferences and create page or blog or channel and promote it amongst your friends or family or public. But it can take time to cover a wide range of audience due to lack of promotion, arrogance on part of some people etc. So, the beginning of marketing on social media platforms is as easy as eating a piece of cake but the success rate of it depends upon the level of promotion and popularity amongst the masses. Also, a large audience may not always mean large sales volume. Social media is the only form of marketing that can target customers at each stage of consumer’s decision-making process. The strongest aspect associated with social media marketing is the communication - the way it connects with the people. Social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Google+ etc. have a growing number of monthly followers. These have a wider range than TV/radio commercials. Many big names have already jumped on board like Nike, Starbucks, MTV, Louis Vuitton, to name a few. Business retailers have seen 133% increase in their revenue from social media marketing.  The major role played for the marketing at social media platforms is that of the ‘mobile phone’. More than three billion people in the world are active on the internet. The internet has gained more and more users jumping from 738 million in 2000 all the way to 3.2 billion in 2015 over the years. Thus, mobile phone usage is beneficial to promote marketing. It is because it has all those features like instant access to web browsers plus instant access to social networking apps. Also, QR (Quick Response) codes which appear on the products nowadays can be scanned on the phone to access the company’s website or other online services. Such are the benefits derived by consumers through mobile phones which are now better known as smartphones. Similarly, marketers use these codes to increase consumer’s interaction with their products. Recent reports of 2017 suggest that more than 90% of internet users access online content through smartphones. Not only goods and services but there has been an increase in social media marketing in sports as well because sports teams and clubs recognize the importance of keeping in-touch with their fans. They also encourage fitness while promoting fitness products. The most followed player on Instagram is Cristiano Ronaldo. His popularity on Twitter is even bigger than Real Madrid and rivals Barcelona combined. Several customers are turning towards social media to express their appreciation or frustration with brands, products or services. Although social media is useful marketing tool, it is often difficult to quantify the sales volume or profits. Marketers are working regarding connecting marketing efforts directly to sales activity. However, there has not been much success in this aspect.Nevertheless, it is not exaggerating to say that social media is the most powerful tool for marketing due to its accessibility, reliability and the power to connect target customers from different parts of the world to the product. </title>
