I was in a small tattoo studio in my town. The walls were covered with drawings, and the sound of the machine was constant.

I was there because I had finally turned 18 and wanted to get my first tattoo. It was something I had been looking forward to with great excitement. Plus, I wasn't alone: my dad came with me, which made the moment even more special.

While the tattoo artist was getting everything ready, I sat there trying to stay calm. When he started, I felt nervous and a little pain, but also a lot of happiness. My dad looked at me and smiled, as if he understood exactly how I was feeling, because he got his first tattoo when he was 14 and now has both arms completely covered in tattoos.

When he finished, I looked at my tattoo in the mirror and felt proud. It wasn't just ink on my skin, it was a memory, a moment shared with my dad. From that day on, I started to like tattoos even more. I don't have many, but each one means something special, and it all started that day, at age 18, with my dad by my side.

This happened when I was at a fair with my friends. In the beginning, we were very excited because we wanted to have fun, listen to music, and try different food. I was walking around and talking with my friends.

Well, everything was going well, and then, all of a sudden, I noticed that my bag felt different. Anyway, I checked quickly, and my phone was gone.

Before long, I started to panic because I realized someone had taken my phone from my bag. So, I told my friends, and we looked around, but we couldn’t find anything.

My First Tattoo

This happened last October. In the beginning, I was feeling excited but also a little nervous. I was with my best friend because we decided to get our first tattoos together. We went to the tattoo studio because there was a special promotion: two for one.

At that moment, I was thinking a lot about the design and if it would hurt. Anyway, we chose our tattoos and waited our turn. Before long, it was my turn, and I sat down trying to stay calm. Then, all of a sudden, the tattoo artist started, and I realized it didn’t hurt as much as I expected.

The next thing I knew, it was finished. The tattoo cost me 100,000 pesos, which was a really good price because of the promotion. In the end, I felt very happy and proud of myself. Finally, I realized that getting my first tattoo was a special experience that I will always remember, especially because I shared it with my best friend.

A Scary Moment in the Elevator

In the beginning, I was at home and I took the elevator to go down for a delivery. Well, as I was going back up, the elevator suddenly got stuck. Fortunately, it happened on the second floor out of ten. The doors opened, but I only saw a wall with cables.

All of a sudden, I felt very nervous. I pressed the emergency button, but nobody helped me. The elevator started making loud noises and began moving down to the nearest floor. Finally, the doors opened; I ran out as fast as I could and took the stairs instead. I felt really scared during the whole situation.

Well, one day I was at university because I had classes and I was working on a project with my classmates, and I was wearing my favorite Pandora bracelet that my Dad gave me. Anyway, with so many things to do, before long I took it off to write more comfortably and left it on the classroom desk. A few minutes later we left quickly because our next class was about to start, and when I looked at my wrist, it was empty. I felt my heart stop and ran back to the classroom, but it was gone. I felt desperate and very sad because it had great emotional value. Finally, after searching everywhere and asking at the office, someone had found it and turned it in, so I felt relieved and grateful, and since that day I am much more careful with my bracelet.

I was in Mérida, Venezuela, visiting my cousins during Carnival. I was there to relax and enjoy the festival.

This happen when we were walking through the main square and there was a BMX stunt show. A promoter asked for volunteers, and before I could hide, my cousin pointed at me. All of a sudden, people started clapping, and I couldn’t say no.

The next thing I knew, I was at the top of a ramp about to try a very dangerous sport. I went down shaking and crashed into a pile of boxes. I wasn’t hurt, just completely embarrassed.

While I was standing up, a woman hugged me and started talking to me. I was confused until I realized she was mistaken for someone else — she thought I was her niece. It was so awkward.

Anyway, the host of the event came over to joke about my “great performance,” and I ended up speaking to someone famous in front of everyone. Then I checked my pocket and realized I had lost something valuable — my wallet. I almost panicked, but before long a little boy returned it. He also handed me an old coin he found next to it. I had found something unusual on the worst-best day ever.

That night I think about how embarrassed I felt at first, but later, I couldn’t stop laughing.

My tragedy in New York

This happened in 2021 when I traveled to New York for my 15th birthday trip. I was on Fifth Avenue with my family because it was my special celebration. While we were walking, I really wanted some AirPods. My dad wasn’t very sure, but he finally bought them for me. I was very happy. Later, we went to eat, and I opened them there. I felt so excited.

The next day, we were traveling back to Colombia. I put the AirPods in the front pocket of my backpack and placed it under the airplane seat. When we arrived in Bogotá, I still had them. Then we flew to Bucaramanga. When we were in the car leaving the airport, I checked my backpack and they were gone. I don’t know if they fell out, if I left them somewhere, or if someone took them.

In the end, I felt very sad and disappointed. Since that day, my dad said he will never buy me new headphones again.

My first tattoo, when I was 17, was a gift from my parents. I chose the word “gratitude” because I was grateful to God and life for all the good things the pandemic had brought me. So I decided to go to a place that had been recommended to me in Bucaramanga. My dad accompanied me and chose the font for the word, ha ha ha. It was an incredible experience that left a mark on me, especially because I was accompanied by the most important man in my life.

I wouldn't get another tattoo, but I treasure that memory in my heart in a unique way.
