Things that are impossible or improbable. Fantasy fiction can also come from imagination, be made up and could also be an impossible dream of yours, like wanting to fly.

It can be supernatural, imaginary, and include unreal elements. Fantasy fiction also sometimes include the use of mythical animals such as dragons, serpents, basilisks, griffins, unicorns, krakens, chimeras, and hydras. More human-like creatures that can be featured in fantasy fiction are witches, wizards, fairies, mermaids, sirens, sphinxes, banshees, and necromancers.

What has to be in fantasy fiction is some sort of magic in it, such as Harry Potter for example. It has the use of a wizard school and use of magical spells and magical creatures. Fantasy fiction can be realistic but imaginative and unrealistic at the same time, such as a use of a magical object, mythical animals, anything beyond any imagination. 

There are many ways to write a fantasy book, different authors have their own ways to convey magic, legends, and myths. Anything magical is fantasy fiction, although sometimes use of technology in books is sometimes mistaken for fantasy. Many dreams and creations are written is books that make it seem so real. Fantasy fiction can be serene and tranquil or brutal and mysterious. There can be anything imaginative and magical.

There’s no limit to fantasy fictions, that’s why it’s so amazing, there’s magic, myths, legends that are made true. Tranquil dreams to agonizing nightmares can all be made real. Their dad, whom they call Ba is the story, has disappeared to an unknown place. They’re left with they’re grandpa who is sickly and old which they call Ye Ye.

When 12 year-old Faryn sneaks out to buy Ye Ye medicine, she encounters a nian a demon-like creature, also named after year in Chinese, she try’s to fight it. After a close call of death, Faryn is suddenly becomes very important.

Her mom is complaining about the weather and how they’re dad should’ve intervened. Wisp is in the back of the car talking about their situation. Wisp has an unknown sickness that her mom is desperately trying to find a cure for. They’re family has many rules evolving around Wisp. Such as “Never say the word die or dying around Wisp.” Willow feels left out because of the center attention one Wisp.

While driving, they are suddenly sent spinning across the road and end up in an unknown place surrounded with water. As they soon get saved by two strangers who are a couple, Willow, her mom, and Wisp, have lost everything in the water below.  They are sent to a place they can stay, the owner whom is named Cora, is letting them stay for free until they get things situated.

At night, everything is set up for them, but to Willow, it seems strange. When Willow wakes up in the early morning, she find that Cora is going into a big brick building. Willow can’t help but stare for a few moments until Cora has disappeared into the building.
