My name is Achint, and I’m the Manager of Education at PARN – Your Community AIDS Resource Network. I’m honored to work on building awareness, fostering collaboration, and supporting education around harm reduction, sexual health, and overall well-being in our community.

Before we begin, I’d like to take a moment for a land acknowledgment. Here in Peterborough, we are on the traditional territory of the Michi Saagiig Anishinaabeg. I recognize and honor their ongoing stewardship of the lands and waters, and I am grateful to be able to live, work, and learn here.

I’m genuinely excited to connect and learn alongside everyone in the coming days, and I look forward to supporting and learning from each of you as we work together.

I am currently volunteering at Toronto People with Aids Foundation( PWA) as an Intake Coordinator and a supporting Volunteer trainer.

I am passionate about issues concerning HIV/Aids and prevention mainly to create a leveled ground and awareness for each and everyone living positively. We are all deserving of the opportunities out there and the stigma should not blur our purpose and full potential. I have lost many friends and relatives to HIV/Aids from back home in Uganda and due to that loss it triggered me to be an advocate for people living with HIV/Aids and create more awareness on prevention and living positively with a purpose.

I love RnB Music ,turn on the music, I get that assignment well I dance till my feet are soar hahaha.

In my next life I would be a comedian only if that career is well paying hahahaha.

I love fine dinning and trying out new cuisines but above all am a foodie I must confess because I believe food brings people closer, its a time to eat and share all that we have and bask in joy with laughter and great conversation.

I'm David, Communications Coordinator at ACT, and I'm excited to connect with all of you in this program. My work centers on queer men's sexual health in Toronto. It all began at the Hassle Free Men’s Clinic, where I volunteered as a Spanish interpreter, helping make healthcare accessible to a wider community.

From there, I joined the CBRC Investigaytors program, which introduce me to the field of community based research and deepened my understanding of LGBTQ2S+ health issues and strengths while connecting with others in our community.

My background in advertising and journalism has been key in shaping the storytelling approach I now bring to my role at ACT, and it’s allowed me to contribute as Co-Chair in the client and community advisory council at HQ.

I'm looking forward to learning from each of you and bringing new insights back to my work!

I am interested in understanding digital media and how it’s being used to engage with communities in new ways. I want to learn about the current practices that organizations and individuals are using to connect with their audiences, especially those from diverse backgrounds. Exploring how different digital tools and platforms can help bridge cultural differences and make it easier to connect with people from all backgrounds is something I’d love to dive into.

My name is Jess and I am the Harm Reduction Coordinator for the AIDS NB Bathurst location. I am excited to embark on this journey with everyone and learn some new skills!

I'm Maddie and I'm the Resource Development and Social Media Coordinator for the Women & HIV/AIDS Initiative (WHAI). I was previously the Women & HIV Coordinator at Pozitive Pathways, an ASO in Windsor, ON, and I have a background in social work. I look forward to learning more and meeting you all!

I have been active in the HIV community since my own diagnosis in 1993. I am passionate about the meaningful engagement of people with lived experience and other community leaders in all aspects of their tcare, treatment, support and research.

Currently , my focus is on HIV cure research and my role is as the Chairperson of the CanCURE community advisory board. I also serve as a team member on several HIV and aging projects, cannabis research and policy development groups.

I have formal education in community based research and journalism and I have studied clinical guideline development, EDI and ethics training among others.

In all of my roles I am tasked with recruitment and knowledge translation, however, at age 62, my digital knowledge is primarily self taught, as computers were not available in my youth. Interesting story, my journalism school in 1980 was the first in the country to have word processors. The WANG. Kinda hard to forget. I originally accessed the internet with DOS operating system and I was in awe when Windows came on the scene. Very long story short, I am due for an update on my skills.

I am a mother and a grandmother. I live rurally with my Bulldog, Ruckus, and I enjoy gardening, exploring, DIY house projects cooking and spending time with friends and family.
