2. On page 189, Carlotta writes, “this was the South, where a black man taken from his home in the middle of the night by whites—event the police, even the FBI—could face unthinkable horror.” Why would this be the case?

Some character traits that Carlotta has are that she's really resilent and determined. We've seen this because even though she's had a chance to not have to go back to Central, she decided to return because she was brave enough to feel like she was ready for another school year- this time to finish everything. She's a hard-worker despite being discriminated throughout her school years, and will try her best to prevent anyone dfrom messing up her education. She also developed tactics to calm herself and reassure herself that she was the bigger person in times of extreme bullying.

The majority of white poeple didn't want integration in the first place, and even all the white applications that were being used for the whites expense were always superior to those applications that were used to colored people's expenses. There were extreme racism toward colored people.

In the context provided, the thing is that in the South, there existed an atmosphere of racial prejudice and discrimination, where black individuals were vulnerable to arrest, abduction, and violence at the hands of white individuals. This would mean that Carlotta and her society life are rigged.

Carlotta is extremely determined to achieve her goal of graduating from Central High School because of the fact that she was one of the nine Little Rock black students to first integrate Central. She was at the start of the integation of Central, and the fact that she had a choice to finish her highschool experience at Central felt like the perfect opportunity for her to finish her goal from the start. Her original goal was to get the best education, but after meeting a lot of influential leaders and realizing the gravity and inspiration that she was leading in integrating Central, she made the decision to attend there for one last year. She then made it her mission, her school goal, that she needed to get her diploma from Central High School so she could finally let go of all the torment she faced while attending there, and also to finish what she started and all the hardships she caused her family and neighbors. If she didn't graduate from Central, almost all of that would have been for nothing.

Question 1-People who gave Carlotta strength to keep going and not quit when things got hard were her family all the black people that faced segregation and her determination played a huge factor as well as the rest of the Little Rock Nine.

Question 2- This would be the case because of segregationists and racial groups such as the KKK.

Question 3 She is so determined because even after the bombing happened on her house she became even more determined to walk on that stage and graduate because she wouldn't let the segregationists scare her out of doing it because she wouldn't let anything or anyone get in her way especially because she had gone through all those years of bullying and work would not go to waste.
