As someone who was in the HR stream, i didn't meet Indradeep much during our MBA. I heard him though ... So many of his arguments were compelling because he had the ability to see the big picture of just about everything. He could understand a topic at a high level and could see through the details too. I started admiring his thinking. A few years passed, and for two people as different as him and i, we started connecting on different topics. He was interested in mindfulness, and we would talk about different kinds, he was interested in coaching, he was willing to share his opinion and the logic behind his opinion whenever i had a question, he was a born teacher and student at the same time. Every time we were in the same town, he was the one who would make the effort to meet, and whenever I would think of him otherwise, it would be with respect, trust and fondness. His pride in Rupal and her entrepreneurial ability, his blushes when he would speak about her... All told me that he adored his family and was hugely supportive. I literally cannot believe someone with so much to give this world is no more... We met at this Palestinian restaurant which i had never been to in 3 years of being in Dubai! I’ll always remember his “theories” for everything - they would be on point, wild, controversial, thought provoking and irritating all at the same time. I don’t remember what theories he discussed that day, but he could sure hold an audience for hours on end. Rest well my friend.

I met Indradeep at a the college entrance test. “Please rubber ta dao, pen ta cholche na, calculator please. It’s ok we can share- we are friends," he said with the broadest smile and big generous eyes. Yes, he taught what friends are for - to share, to die and live for each other, to strive to be a better person. We spent many life and near-death situations together but he went far ahead with life and beyond. Will see him on the other side. Guardian angels are forever....Om Shanti Om...will make up for all the time we lost on the other side of life!

He was with me in school, college and in business school. He was a deep thinker and always enjoyed a good debate on absolutely any topic under the sun.  He was very bright,  and yet so humble and had this amazing ability to annoy people and make them smile at the same time. 
Khan always made it a point to reach out and connect. I remember receiving his call , completely out of blue, in october 2020 during covid - he said that the pandemic had given him many things to reflect on and as a result he had decided to call old friends and connect with them - we spoke for more than an hour reminiscing old times (of him bugging Soumee and me in college and at XL to introduce him to some girl or the other 😊 ) and about his different business ventures . He contacted me again last year, when I was frantically looking for an oxygenator, to offer leads and help. It’s hard to come to terms with the bitter truth that there will be no such phone call or whatsapp message from him again. Rest in peace, Khan . You will always be in our thoughts and prayers.

We went our own ways until by some quirk of fate we reconnected again in 2012 when I had a hunch on a currency movement and he patiently tutored me on how to go about executing a futures trade. Always happy to help and teach DIY finance to IR folks like us, I was fortunate to be on one of his motley watsapp groups since 2016 – where the common connection to all members has been Khan. For the last 6 years from crypto to Roe Vs Wade to ESG to Inclusion & Diversity to Transitory vs structural inflation, I don’t think he let up on any subject, besides the stock market itself. I am still in a state of disbelief how transient life turned out to be and in hindsight how fortunate some of us were to be able to participate in regular, daily conversations with him and work together the last couple of months on what is now one of his incomplete food ventures in Calcutta. 

Lots of strength to his young family and his parents for the huge void he leaves behind in their life – even as he was leaving, in his last moments after being in hospital, he was bright as sunshine, telling us about the way he lived his life. Pursuit of Happiness is so apt to describe his life.

Loved your sense of humour, your daily banter on WhatsApp with members of the CA group. Always marvelled at how much knowledge you had on all matters of political, financial and social relevance. Absolutely loved following you on Twitter. And last but not the least will always fondly recall our drinks and dinner session at the Lalit last year. I still live in hope that i will see your messages again on CA group :-(((. RIP brother, will surely miss you.
