The purpose of a formal argument is to make readers believe something and in many cases to take some type of action.
STRONG ARGUMENT 
Shows an understanding of the issue 
Includes a precise claim that states the writer's position
Provides logical reasons to support the writer's claim
Has formal style and confident tone
A claim is a writers position on a problem or issue
To respond to a statement you agree or disagree with
A calmly held view everyone sees something the same
You only argue about one main thing 
SUPPORT REASONS AND EVIDENCE
Claim- Animal dissections should be banned from schools
Facts- Are statements that are meant to be proven. 
Loaded Lang- Has bad comments
Concl- You need a logical blow up to the main idea
