         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. It lacks the seperation of powers. All one central government.<br>2. Large states will be under-represented and small states will be over-represented.<br>3. It does not allow change or flexibility. <br>4. Could not levy direct taxes. Could only ask states for contributions.<br>5. No Army!!!- had to rely on state militias for defense .<br>6. Could not regulate interstate and foreign trade<br>7. Could not levy tariffs on imports and exports<br>8. Get 9 states to agree to a law and all 13 to amend the articles.<br>9. 13 different currencies.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Treaty of Paris<br>-PEACE: The confederation congress negotiated successful peace settlement to the Revolution in the Treaty of Paris of 1783. Key Provisions:<br>&nbsp;+Britain would recognize the existence of the U.S. as independent.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;+Mississippi River would be the western boundary<br>&nbsp; +Americans pay debts owed to british merchants and honor loyalist claims for property confiscated.<br>-Unity: it kept the country together until a stronger government was established.<br>- Adjustment of Land Claims: The congress succeeded in having states surrender their western land claims to the national government and created the northwest territory.<br>&nbsp;+ The Northwest ordinance 1787</div>]]></description>

Congress had to request donations from states to meet national needs.<br>FOREIGN: European nations had little respect for a new nation that could neither pay its debts nor take effective and united action in a crisis.          <description><![CDATA[<div>- The AoC was written by John Dickinson of PA.* also wrote LETTERS FROM A FARMER IN PA.*<br>-Consisted of only a CONFEDERATION CONGRESS.<br>- Each state had only one vote.<br>- Laws passed by 2/3 majority and amendments had to be unanimous.<br>+A confederation is a league of independent sovereign states. Kind of like 13 tiny countries under a very loose ruling government.</div>]]></description>
