1) Before setting up the sessions: find out how long the time slots will be (last year they were two hrs long, but this year they turned out to be 90 min only, which made it way too tight with four presentations + discussion).

2) If the conference is hybrid I suggest we ask the organizers to arrange technical training sessions both online and onsite.

  • Was expecting more feedback
  • Expected more of workshops-style rather than traditional conference form
  • Perhaps we can have workshops inbetween the conferences?
  • Interesting to see how different papers interact.
  • Perhaps we can keep touch / email eachother afterwards individually + make use of the working group mailinglist
  • Focus more on conceptual issues / conceptualization  - perhaps arrange a workshop on this? (What makes soldiering different from plumbing but similar to railroad work for example)

  • Workshops in between conferences.
  • Joint publications.
  • Perhaps a follow up workshop on the papers?
  • Meetings on specific concepts etc. Eg everyone writes down 200 words on military labour and send out beforehand and then based on this we have conceptual discussions
