You know that when something needs to get done, you do it. It's not about being bossy, it's that feeling that people trust you to tell them what to do. They look to you as a leader, sometimes without even knowing. Being a leader is taking initiative. It's being a good role model. It's not always knowing what to do, but knowing that you can ask for help from the people you trust in tough situations. It's accepting that you won't always get the credit you deserve. Leadership can range from a public figure to the captain of your soccer team. 

Most of these things are what I've learned from NHSLP. Two years ago, I wouldn't have answered this question very easily. But, I have learned a lot about being a leader in the last two years and try to apply that to my everyday life.

Being a leader could mean going out of your way to help and be recognized. But it also means being in the shadow and helping others get recognized. Helping people build up there confidence and become and better leader, is probably one of the best ways YOU can become and better leader. Helping others when not being asked, or giving people a little push just to raise there hand in class is a way of showing leadership. No one is born a leader. Some just grow into their skin more than others. Some includeing me didn’t even know they were leaders until told. You don’t need a gold star and a name tag to become a leader.
