I think this meat free sunday would be a very beneficial idea (if the meat producers agree with the idea of meat free monday) , and lower the amount of meat eaten. i have voted yes, but i struggle to see how this will help. It is not like just because we are taking a day off of eating that the meat producers will just stop producing it. They will still produce meat and it will still produce the same amount of bad gases and hurt the environment the exact same amount, all this day will do will stock up meat in stores a little bit.

I think meat free Monday would be a very effective and beneficial idea because I think most of us are unaware and don’t realise how much of our planet is taken up by meat producing industries. A whopping 40% of our planet is used and taken up for just meat purposes. Many studies also show that many sources of meat that we eat have many pesticides and germs in them. As well as this studies also show that people with vegetarian, vegan diets or even just consume less meat in general are at a lower risk of many possible death causes such as Heart attack. People may argue that we don’t have access to any source of protein however this is quite untrue as we can protein from things such as eggs, nuts and many legumes. Finally we may find that consuming less meat is in fact cheaper (as vegetables cost less than meat). Feel free to argue or contradict my opinion below.

I think that we should have Meat free Mondays in order take action against the high production of carbon emissions from meat producers, as well as improve our own health and diets.

Meat is not necessary in our diets as although it (red meat) provides protein, foods such as beans, nuts, eggs and seeds all provide just as much protein. Their are plenty of foods which can substitute for meat in dishes such as tofu, mushrooms, lentils and eggplant, so having a meat free Monday every week should not be very hard to do!

Furthermore, meat (especially processed meats such as salami and bacon) can increase your risk of cancer, heart disease and diabetes. Meat also carries the highest risk of food borne illnesses, such as E. Coli and Salmonella.

These are just a few scientifically proven reasons why having meat free Monday would not only benefit the environment, but benefit ourselves as well.

I disagree the event of meet free. Because I think that meat is important for us by providing proteins to our muscles and body growth. For example, if you don't eat chicken breast you will not get enough growth on your body consequently you will be a bit thin without any muscle growth. Also if you don't eat fish, your eye blood vessels will be weaker. Which means your eyesight will not be good. As well as, the taste of meats is very nice.

Though we would need to find a way to convince the students who prefer meat over a vegetarian dish to cut out meat once a week. Many people also argue that having a vegetarian diet can malnourish you of protein. However being a vegetarian myself (Simone), there are plenty of other foods to get protein from, such as nuts, beans, vegetarian meat etc. Also, meat free Mondays are once a week, it's not a lot to ask of you to help our environment.

In my opinion, Meat free Mondays are a great idea, as long as we don't start having more days meatless, as meat is quite important to our diet, having fibers and such. We also must keep our Meat free Mondays consistent if we ever want to make a difference, and we have to find substitutes for the fiber that our body needs.

In addition, our school's Meat free Monday isn't going to intensely change the world, not all by itself at least. I believe Meat free Mondays should also involve spreading a message about industrial farming and how it affects the environment, and some ways to improve the quality of our environment due to industrial farming.

I don't think the school shouldn't add a completely meat free Monday but at the same time it should add some more meat-free alternatives. While meat is essential for growth as it contains multiple nutrients that our bodies cannot produce by itself, for example, protein, vitamin B12 and iron. While supplements and alternates do exist, they don't provide it in such a way that meat does. The major problem, and motivation for meat free Monday, remains the meat industry itself. It takes up an overwhelming 51% of greenhouse gases emitted and the excrement produced by the animals contains tons of pathogens that are carried by the wind when farmers spray them over their fields.

It is definitely essential that not only our school but the world as a whole to introduce a more vegan diet but at the same time it shouldn't abolish meat as a whole as no supplement can match meat. So I don't think it should be meat free Monday's but rather 'More meat free than meat' Mondays as the amount of agriculture (half!) taken for the meat industry absolutely needs to reduce it's carbon footprint.

Honestly in my opinion I think meat free Monday is an idea that can be improved to make a stronger change. Though people won’t eat meat for one day it’s still not enough, the next day we will go back to our usual meals of meat. We can start making our own vegetarian burgers and try it on the students to see if they taste any difference. If they don’t then it can still taste as good yet help the environment more at the sametime. It will save the risk of students getting chemicals and GMO’s in their bodies. If possible we could have a day where we eat insects so that students can get used to them

And you could even do this everyday.

There are also things to replace meat or you can become pescatarian because fish can also provide the things you need.

Although I do like eating meat I think Meat Free Mondays is a good idea and should be adapted into our school. Despite the fact that some people might not like the rule and want to eat meat everyday, it is only one day a week which can make a small contribution to the global goals. It doesn’t take away that much of your freedom and although some people might not follow the idea initially, I think it can really help.
